Fretboard, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

My take on the Output Tamer's tone is that, at comparably low volumes to what I normally play the UA Project at, the tone isn't quite as full or rounded as with the UA, but that the UA's advantage becomes less noticeable as you increase the output on each. I think I'd still gig with the UA, but for $55 (about 1/5 of what I paid for the UA Project) I think the Output Tamer is a steal. If I didn't have the UA I'd gig with the other and it's definitely reassuring to know it's available as a backup. Let me know if there are any other details / comments I can provide, and again I apologize for disappearing the past month.
