Jimmy, have you thought that you might pull more money is you sold them individually? There are more buyers looking for single guitars than there are people willing to buy, and have the money available, to buy a collection.

I don't really want to sell them that bad unless I get my price. I would prefer to sell the whole collection for my price.

Didn't Gibson use decals for serial # from 1975-1977 ? #99 for 1975 , #00for 1976 , #06 for 1977 ? thank you John

For the last part of 1975 and the early part of 1977 that is true. From late 75 to early 77 they used what is referred to as the transitional serial numbering system until they switched to the one that is similar to today's in mid 1977 (first and fifth digits indicate the year). If you notice, my 75 still has the older 6 digit serial and the 77 has the newer 8 digit serial. My 76 is the only one with the decal. And of course, as my auction states, there are always exceptions. Gibson's website documents what I just wrote above. And they also add a caveat - the old codgers at the Kalamazoo plant were slow to adopt changes. That includes parts as well as serial number structural changes. Gibson's web site gives ranges for the 6 digit serials, as to what few digits they can start with from 70-72, 73, and 74-75. But I have seen Kalamzoo guitars from 74 that start with digits from the 70-72 range. And I have seen about 5 guitars recently that are 1976-1978 models that still have the older 6 digit serial numbering system. In fact, I have seen 3 LP Customs with maple fretboards that were made in Kalamazoo with 6 digit serials, yet they were build between 76-78. And to reiterate, Gibson's web site states that this in fact did happen. So again, you can use those rules as a guide, but there are always exceptions. I had a guy tell me that there were no volutes in 69; wrong. I had another guy tell me there were no volutes in 82; wrong.

They're all so beautiful; if I was mega rich or famous I'd totally buy that load.
