Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
This is a tube amp built from a kit by Guytronix. This one is the Gilmore Jr. I built it to sound like a clean Fender. This amp can be run in 1/2 watt or 2 watt mode. The tubes are 12AX7 preamp and 6N1P for 1/2 watt or ECC99 for 2 watts power output. The transformers are Mercury Magnetics. The whole thing is point to point hand wired by me. The sides are figured maple dyed cherry/amber and shot with clear nitro lacquer. The "Fisher" nameplate is pre-ban ivory.
1/2 watt is very loud but quiet enough to be used in an apartment setting. 2 watts is louder by a bit but can still be used in a situation where a low watt amp is more desirable. The cleans are VERY nice with little to no hum. 8 ohm speaker output. The amp WILL breakup but a smaller low watt speaker is needed to get it to naturally overdrive without a pedal. I've run effects into the front with GREAT results. Here is a link to the Guytronix site and then pictures of the amp. http://www.guytronix.com/home.html ![]()

Let me know if you're interested in trading and what you have to trade.

I'm not without interest, as I've played one of those before. Can you give me some idea of what you're interested in on the other end of the deal?

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
Oh...as far as value. The kit sells for around $400 and it's already assembled. I'm kinda looking for maybe some pedals or a couple of GOOD pedals like a univibe. I don't really know, this was a spur of the moment move and I really hadn't thought about it.

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
I just got my other custom amp and I don't play this one like I did. This amp is a really clean amp that would be very cool with pedals in front of it. I even considered making a preamp out of it. I juts bought a wah on eBay and it made me look at the classifieds here and then I had this brain fart to put my amp up for trades. If any of you guys have gear that you just don't use anymore then maybe you'd like a cool little low watt tube amp. I'll have some clips up by Saturday afternoon.

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
How loud is a 2 watt output? I come from the land of SS amps, and 30watts is barely loud enough. This wouldn't be something to gig with? Or could it be louder than a drummer?

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
Answers...Yes, I built it myself. I took my time and I feel like I was meticulous. What kind of pick ups? I'd really like to get my hands on some Tom Holmes. The P-90 sounds interesting but I'm not sure I'd want to let go of the amp for one pickup. 2 watts is not loud enough to gig with unless you mic it through a PA. This amp is more geared to someone who wants to record or just play at home. However, you cannot crank this amp with the baby asleep in the next room or maybe even upstairs because it's pretty loud.
This amp is not like an amp built with distortion. I intentionally built it clean. You can put any pedal in front and it's going to sound cool played through a clean tube amp.

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
Does anybody out there have some good pedals for trade? Pickups would be cool. An SG or Studio would interest me. Most of the stuff we have and don't use won't bring much on eBay because of the economy. I don't use this amp because I have a custom built amp. I'd rather this amp go to someone who needs a low watt amp. Come on. Hit me with some interesting trades. Pick ups are cool but I have two electric guitars. The LP has Seymour Duncan Jimmy Page HBs in it and the Strat has Lace Sensor Holy Grails in it. I don't really need pickups but if you have some VERY cool pick ups then tell me what you have and I'll think about it. I'm leaning toward pedals. Anyone have a treble booster or overdrive or distortion or cool wah?

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
Here's a lick to a clip. It's really rough. I was trying to get something out with the short amount of time I had and my mic placement and levels could have been better. Additionally, I suspect a bad solder joint in my guitar. I'm going to do another using my Strat. Go to this link and find the Gilmore Jr. demo and there's a "play" arrow down the page a bit under where it says Gilmore Jr Demo and song description.

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
I forgot. You have to find and click on Gilmore Jr. in the song list to the left.

Re: Low Watt Tube Amp For Trade
Check out Haters Step. If you can get past the first 5 seconds, there is a PRS all through the song. That's a 2002 PRS McCarty with soap bar pickups played through....GarageBand guitar amp sim! All done on a laptop.

Thanks. If I can find the time...I'm going to record my Strat. The cleans on this amp are killer.

Hey, did you check out Haters Step? My kid put that one together and I did the guiatr parts. He's the rapper on a couple of those songs.
