WTB Epi LP Clear Pickguard
Hey all,
I recently purchased a 2001 Epi LP Limited in the Nuclear Extreme red crackle finish. I don't know if that makes the pickguard any different size, but I do know these guitars came standard with clear pickguards. The used one I bought came with a mirror finish, which looks cool, except part of the mirror finish is starting to wear and it looks...well, tacky. So I'm wondering if anyone out there has a clear pickguard from a standard Epi LP they're willing to part with. If not, I'd go for a mirrored finish, but those are probably the only 2 looks I'm going for. I may be tempted to get cream. Please PM me with whatever you have, I'd be forever indebted to you if you had something along these lines! Thanks, hope this is an ok first post ![]() Mo |

Re: WTB Epi LP Clear Pickguard
If you have trouble finding one, you can get an awesome one made at Terrapin Guitars: Custom Pickguards Check out all the materials, there are a TON of colors and materials. There's even transluscent colors like smoke or translucent red that might looks pretty sweet on that guitar... Sky's the limit, and the quality of the products is unbeatable. If you get a hold of John, tell him Jason sent you.
And welcome to MLP! Hope you stick around awhile.

Or you could get a hold of fellow MLPer TWANG. He makes 'em. Made me cavity covers for my Epi LP. He's one of the good guys.

![]() For those who don't know what Mo is referring to, here's one in black: ![]() I believe they were about $399 at Mars Music a few years ago. They have set necks, hot pickups, and a weird headstock, kinda like hair parted on the side with the E-Wing logo, as I recall. I believe they were Korean, also. |

Re: WTB Epi LP Clear Pickguard
And look, my post #2 can be a NECRO-POST!!!
Thanks for the comments, guys. I'll look into those options. After playing with a few different guys they've essentially had an intervention with me and told me that a clear pickguard would be less aesthetically pleasing than the mirror finish. Not to be put in my place, I'm actually thinking of going the route of some sort of chrome finish. I'm sure I'll locate something with the guys you mentioned. Yeah, and the headstock is definitely unique. In addition to the cool inlay work that I now associate with AT&T Wireless' "More Bars" commercials, the headstock is an asymmetric book style with the vintage Epiphone "E" logo on a red background. Also of note is the truss rod cover, which doesn't look like the standard LP covers, sporting straight lines and also having an asymmetric element to it. Once I get a good camera I'll take pics so y'all can gawk over it. Thanks for the help, all! Mo |
