1985 DELUXE/STANDARD GOLD SPARKLE TOP PLAYED BY "Stiff Little Fingers"

I did find some additional history on the guitar. I didn't know it but I actually bought the guitar from the former guitarist of Stiff Little Fingers. Other than that I don't really know much about the guitar. I has been asked if its a deluxe. It could be I have no idea. Some of the hardware has been replace with new stuff, like the tuners, pickguard, and truss rod cover, so its hard to indentify anything other than what the serial number can tell you, or just the other visible details of the guitar.

1985 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Guitar plays great, with low action, and minimal buzz - it's obviously broken in! I don't know anything about the history of this guitar. I bought it as a guitar to add some TLC to. I don't know if the finish is original, but it looks really good. It has a glossy professional clear coat. The back, neck, have some overspray that is not factory, and it appears there was a minor head stock repair. You can see through the resprayed neck the serial number (SN# 81635619) on back of headstock.and the "Made in USA" stamp faintly I don't know what the original back and sides were, but maybe some kind of burst. You can feel a little thicker paint where there was a repair. Top binding is in great shape, only one tiny crack by the cutout that I couldn't get a photo to show. The biding gets thicker in the cutout which I believe is consistant for those years. It may have a maple neck, I can't quite tell, but the grain doesn't look like mahogany to me.

Guitar is heavier than my 2007 Standard, maybe heavier than my classic antique, but I wouldn't call it super heavy for a Les Paul. The neck pick up is a Dimarzio p90, the bridge no distictive markings. Electronic appear to be updated. Its sounded great plugged in, and as I said earlier played great. Its a little rough around the edges with some attempts and cleaning up the finish, but a solid guitar. Pick guard looks pretty new. Tuners look pretty new. Bridge and tailpiece show appropriate wear, but I have no idea if they are original. Truss rod cover looks new.

I've had it on ebay twice. The bidding has gone over $850 both times. Both buyers fell though. The last one even went over $1000. I'm not looking to make a huge profit. So I'll start at $900 shipped and take offers.

I might consider trades or trades plus cash.

It has a newerish Gibson case with black lining.

I'll try to answer any questions you have but I'm not an expert on older gibsons. It's a solid guitar.

Email if you want some more pictures.

Re: 1985 DELUXE/STANDARD GOLD SPARKLE TOP PLAYED BY "Stiff Little Fingers"

I'll look when I get home. I don't really remember. To be honest the guitar seems older than 1985. Smells older for some reason, and little like cigs from its days with Sticky Little Fingers and Irish Pubs...

Edit: The knobs don't look original. They look like newer speed knobs. They look and sit just like the speed knobs on my 2007 custom.
