FS-Gibson Les Paul Goldtop RAREST OF RARE

1972 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop '54 reissue officially known as "The Sixth Edition". Only about 1000 ever made from late '71 to early '73. Most of them have been altered for humbuckers and Grovers. This one is AMAZINGLY CLEAN. 100% original with no mods, no breaks, no issues, no excuses. I'd give it a solid 9.7 condition. NO REALLY...there is no checking, dents or dings and it shines like new! Its difficult to believe this is a 36 year old guitar. YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE CLEANER.

The guitar is a freak and nothing like what you'd expect from a Norlin era Gibson. Single piece (medium chunky) neck, no volute, small headstock, correct cutaway with maple showing below the binding, mediums sized frets (not the typical tiny frets). The only pot I could read dates to 1971. The original red lined case is as clean as the guitar. Weighs in at 9 pounds on the bathroom scale which I'm sure is close give or take (it's not a heavy LP).

Tone is such a personal thing so I can't comment too much on it's sound but this piece gets more positive comments about how it plays and sounds than any other guitar I've owned. It truely plays as good as it looks.

The prices on '68 Goldtops are insane and this one is constructed much like a '68 except for the bridge and the made in the USA stamp.

I'm sure I forgot some details so shoot me an email at inson1@verizon.net if you need more pix or have questions.

$12,500.00 shipped

There's a couple more besides the '76 Fawn and the 2555 Jubilee.

OK...shot myself in the foot with the amp picture. Ignore it and scroll back to the first post, then ignore the amps in the background and admire the guitar, tell the wife somethings come up and hit the bank.

Nice guitar...I take it THAT's what a Trans-Tenon looks like...best pic I've ever seen of one.

Good luck with the sale--awesome guitar.

BB

[Edit] With those amps, I hope you're a member at the Plexi Palace Forum...if not, shame on you.

This thread rose from the grave. The guitar sold for full price about a year ago. It just goes to show that even in the bad market, cool/original/mint pieces will still sell.

...and yes, I'm on the PP forum.

Hmmm....this may work. First things first. What does mom look like now and has she remarried since I left?

Jesus Christ, that guitar is immaculate. How about a payment plan? I could pay you $10 a month until the guitar is paid off or until you die... whichever comes first. Sound good?
