Feeler: Complete Gibson Les Paul BFG wiring kit, killswitch, pots, caps, wiring. etc.

I have a BFG that I'm refinishing and I'm feeling like I'd like to change the electronics over to the more traditional 2 vol 2 tone knob set up.

If someone has an interest I'd be happy to sell the wiring kit as intact as possible from my BFG. This would include the two position kill switch, the 3 position selector switch, all the wires, the pots, and caps, along with the black speed knobs you will need to use with USA pots (if you're buying this for your Alpine White Epiphone, buckethead fan ).

The only thing not included in this deal is the pickups, everything else electronic you can have.

One word of warning. The selector switch will replace one of your tone knobs, the hole for the selector switch may have to be enlarged.

Not sure what I should ask for this... might accept interesting trades, pedals, bigsbys, etc.

ooh this stuff might scare some people away. relocated switch, killswitch, very unusual for some people.

And not unusual at all for some others.

When you tell people they have to mount batteries for EMGs, its unusual for some and not for others. Some people freak. Others just put the battery in the control cavity and play.

There's nothing to fear here, everything will come intact, wire up your pups and play. I just feel that I should disclose that my BFG's hole where the upper tone knob would go (and instead the selector switch is there) is quite a bit bigger than the rest of the holes for the pots.

And I realize this is a niche, but it never hurts to put it out there... there might be someone looking for just this particular setup.

I mean the idea that they have to rewire the guitar including a battery pack.

It has nothing to do with the battery itself. Its the principle of the thing.

Re: Feeler: Complete Gibson Les Paul BFG wiring kit, killswitch, pots, caps, wiring.

how about just selling the guitar as-is, and buying something you are more happy with?

doesn't make sense to me to gut the thing, re-finish the thing... sounds to me like you should just buy another guitar....

How about no.

I am quite happy with my guitar as is. I'll be happier when I do some modifications to it. Can you find a real Gibson Les Paul with a carved top and a flamed maple cap for 600 dollars? No? Didn't think so.

I guess I just fail to see your logic when a refinish, a re-wire, heck, some boutique pickups would still run me less than the cost of a decently used Studio.

Thought a redirect to a BFG refinish project by Last would help it all make sense to GearGeek02.

Check this:

Would love to see some pics of your project dj.

No doubt. If it had been plain I was just gonna refin in white nitro and be done with it... but now... man.. the possibilities are endless.

Re: Feeler: Complete Gibson Les Paul BFG wiring kit, killswitch, pots, caps, wiring.

hey, im somewhat interested...

i have a few questions though...
  1. is the threaded shaft for the pickup selector and kill switch the same width/length? (ie. interchangeable)
  2. is the wire from the kill switch to control cavity braided single conductor? (vintage style)
  3. is the cap ceramic? (it looks like it is in the pic, but it could be a treble bleed grounded in an odd manor)
  4. lastly, are there ANY mods done to the electronics? (treble bleeds, upgraded wire, etc etc etc)

1. As far as I know. Everyone that's interchanges the positions have had no complaints.
2. I have no idea.
3. The cap is stock as far as I know. FennRx didn't list any upgrades when I bought it from him.
4. Nope.
