1979 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop

Up for sale or trade is my 1979 Gibson Les Paul gold top. The guitar plays and sounds nice. This is a player LP so the frets do have some wear, but have plenty of life left in them. The frets do not have any groves in them and are smooth. The tuners were replaced at some point. I do not have the pick guard. This guitar has some serious mojo to it! I do not have the original case, but will include a SKB hardshell that fits and protects the guitar. I will be updating this posting with the type up pickups, and additional photos.

The goldtop is not my favorite finish and I may be willing to trade it for another Les Paul. Let me know what you have. If you want to make me a cash offer just send me a message. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Thanks for looking!

I am looking to get $2,000

I forgot to mention that this LP has a maple neck as you can see in the photos.

FYI - If you don't put a price the mods will delete this thread. They consider threads with offers like an auction. It is against the rules.

How much?

It has been rewired. The metal plate is gone. They used cheap wire.

Yes, it has been rewired. The pots and caps may be original. I will check the numbers on the pots later this evening and update this post.

Looks like replacement pickup rings too. They look like Epi rings to me.

It's against my better judgment to say this but that's crazy high. Goodluck though. I have an extensively upgraded 1980 and so I will be an interested observer.

I have a 1979 Standard in Ebony and a "Standardized" 1977 Deluxe Pro that are in similar condition. I'd consider discussing a trade, or trading stripped husks. PM if interested.

Crazy high? How how long has it been since you stepped foot into a music store?? Because of your comment the guitar is no longer for sale on this forum and will be going up for auction shortly on ebay. I buy and sell a lot of guitars and know that $2,000 is a fair price.

Just a simple question " Why are you all busting this mans Nuts? He listed his guitar and if your not interested just pass it up. If he wants to ask 5 million it belongs to him and he has the right to ask whatever he wants. Don't Crap on the mans thread. Besides that I for one am interested.

This. Really, guys.

OP: If I weren't out to sea for 3 more months, I'd be making an offer right now. I want a GT so frickin bad I'm thinking about getting the top of my Traditional Pro redone.

the color and shape, specifically the corners/edges.

Not that it makes a huge difference anyways, it's a cool guitar regardless.

I agree with swampblues, people need to stop shitting and pissing all over people's for sale threads.

I think most of us have listed enough gear on Craigslist to have gotten enough shit and lowball comments/offers for a lifetime.

We don't need it here.

This is a fair price. Good luck with your sale.
