Unique 1952/56 Goldtop conversion

I am seeing if there is any interest in my treasured 1952/56 Les Paul Goldtop conversion.
The story of the guitar has been documented here many times.

1952 To 1956 Goldtop Conversion

I'll shoot some new pics if there is a interest, only a dire family situation is forcing this sale. Rick Norman can verify the voracity of this guitar.
The neck pickup is from heaven..
Thanks
Emerald

Re: Unique 1952/56 Goldtop conversion

Yes Chef, I apologize here are a few prior to the newer hardware, the mahogany of the body is incredibly beautiful, one of the sweetest lookin grain patterns I have seen, seriously.
Here are some existing shots, I will shoot pics of the new Dr. Vintage controls and the vintage style wiring configuration. Also the knobs are mounted correctly as they were in the fifties:
Notice the beauty of the top carve as well
The guitar is very light, I will have a weight tomorrow.I actually sold my 100% original 1954 Les Paul Junior in deference to this guitar, before I even put all the additional money into her to make her perfect.
I never ever have bought a guitar to sell, I buy them to keep and make them the finest playing and looking guitars I can.

These are all with the old hardware fitted, not the Steve Rowen Pigtail pieces.
My parts from Steve are some of the last he built before he passed on.

Not the aged RS Klusons yet

I am really not doing her justice with these old photos, these are pre the Dr.Vintage makeover, pre- fretboard cleaning and oiling and fret polishing

Tonight I am shooting all new pictures to show how incredible it looks now.

Ric, I am open to negotiations, so don't do anything drastic.
Seriously this is really an incredible guitar which I had never planned to part with and it is just a tone monster.
PM me.

Dave, I'm sure this will be gone in short order. As I told my wife last night, "Why couldn't this have waited 'til Feb.?" I'm in save mode for my "mid life" purchase 'til then. It's a great lookin' guitar, GLWS, though I doubt you'll need any luck selling it.

Re: Unique 1952/56 Goldtop conversion

Well unfortunately my firm offer fell through, I am sorry for the guy but that's how it goes.
Currently I am asking $5K + shipping of your choice, I have PayPal account but prefer a bank transfer, ect.
I have messaged 3 others who asked to be considered if the original deal fell through and my heart goes out to the original buyer, but I am in a tight situation and didn't plan all this out in advance, ect.
There was an issue of no case other than the ridiculous Anvil boat anchor I have for it, which ill fits the guitar, so I am throwing in my Heritage Guitars LP violin shape case from one of my GM Heritage.
First person who agrees to the cash now deal it is yours, sorry no trades please!
This is an incredible guitar in every way so please consider it, you won't be sorry and it is pure Goldtop nirvana.
Just the incredible job on the neck with the original binding, Brazilian board and inlays, holy head veneer inlayed Gibson, new frets, the incredible top carve, the amazing paint work with the old fashioned bronze added, then the part two upgrades,'The single line aged RS Kluson tuners, dropping the angle of the strings lower over the nut, the amazing Steve Rowen era Pigtail hardware the aluminum ABR-1 bridge, the lightweight tail piece, steel studs from Pigtail.
Then the Dr.Vintage Original Spec controls with the calibrated CTS pots, shielded wiring and high quality caps.
Then all of this was installed and set up by Rick Norman with the guitar getting his $500 Historic style blueprinting set up.
The pickup heights are shimmed perfectly and the neck pickup is worth the price of the whole guitar.
Never imagined I would have to sell it, never imagined I would lose my house, job and have my health in such peril at the moment.
This really is a guitar of a lifetime, has a very interesting story and I hope she gets played the rest of her days!
My cell is 480-330-4794
Again thanks MLPF members for your kindness and consideration.
Here is the back story again, any questions please call me right away...
1952 To 1956 Goldtop Conversion
PS I originally asked $4.5K, there appears to be some confusion out there that it was $4.2, ect.
I am asking $5K as it is worth it, closest to that wins, Friday is my deadline, I am new to selling stuff that I can actually get a decent price for sorry!!

Re: Unique 1952/56 Goldtop conversion

I am coming up against the Paypal issue here, at least 7 days if all goes well until I can see any money. If the buyer agrees to pay the PP fees, PP tells me they must also handle the shipping costs.
This is capitalism at it's finest.
Does everyone rely on PP for their buying process??
I never have for any large transaction. I use cash or CC to the person/dealer??
Bewildered

Re: Unique 1952/56 Goldtop conversion

Sounds like a funding source issue - not an issue of who is paying the PayPal fee and shipping costs. (Assuming that if your buyer decides to add 3% to the sale price to cover the fee that is between you and the buyer. You do not need to make that a formally announced part of the transaction on PayPal. They only need to know the dollar amount of the transaction being processed.)

RE: My experiences on Funding Sources
If funds are in a buyer's PayPal account then the payment should be "instant."
If the funds are coming from a bank account as an "E-Check" then the payment should also be "instant" unless there is no credit card backing the buyer's paypal account. My understanding is that w/o the credit card backing the account there will be a delay.

I have never done a PayPal deal for more than $2500 so keep that in mind... your higher dollar amount may be subject to greater restrictions that are slowing down the transfer/release of funds.

Regardless of dollar amount: PayPal loves to drag their feet in transferring funds from your PayPal account to your bank account. You will lose at least 3 days getting your money out of your PayPal account (in spite of the fact that they can take OUT money instantly!)
I assume this 3 day delay yields them a few pennies in interest, but multiply that X the millions of dollars they handle daily and I'm sure it adds up. PayPal has built-in various delays and stalls for "processing time" to help line their greedy pockets... if you think about it: all the funds transfers are electronic and almost instant so there is no need for "processing time." In the past year PayPal has gotten more greedy and less user friendly... I am starting to seek alternative ways to pay online.
