Wanted: Jimmy Page Custom Authentic and / or Ace Frehley Custom Shop guitar

Has anyone got either guitar available for sale? I might be interested in acquiring one or both of them.

Are you looking for a 1 in 300 Ace Frehley Custom shop or just the Gibson signature model?

I want one of the 300. I have owned 4 of them, but do not own any at the moment.

Re: Wanted: Jimmy Page Custom Authentic and / or Ace Frehley Custom Shop guitar

A collector mate of mine has one from 1997 (Ace Frehley Custom shop model) that still has the original strings on it, it's never been played, it is for sale but I think he's wanting around $10-12k for it... I don't know if that's good or bad because I know nothing about them.

Definately on the high end. I've never seen one sell for that, the most I've seen one sell for personally was on Ebay at the beginning of the year, it went for $7500 and sold as unplayed/NIB. The days of picking up the 1 in 300 custom shops for a deal are long gone, from what I've seen they are ranging between $5700 through $8K+ depending on what # you have and how good the flame is.

About 4 years ago I passed on #10 for $3500 cash, I had it in my hands, but the guitar had some pretty good wear on it so I was turned off and said no. Boy do I regret that now....

I would take one with a little wear if it would knock the price down. I don't want to go broke over one. It is rare, but it is not vintage, which is where I prefer to send my money. I know where I can get a nice one for $7500, but I just don't want to spend that much on one. I think $5000-5500 is a very fair price for a nice one. I sold 4 of them last year for $4800-5200 each. And now the market is down. So one sells for $7500 on ebay earlier in the year, every Ace CS owner saw it, and now they all want that much for theirs. They need a reality check.

Scored a Jimmy Page Custom Authentic!

Jimmy Page Custom Shop Les paul - eBay (item 190252175862 end time Sep-15-08 12:04:19 PDT)

Non original case, but a new custom shop case is easy to get cheap. Case candy, fairly easy as well. COA, forget it! Uhm, actually, I think I know where I might find one.....

Very nice pickup!! Congrats. Mission Complete, lol!!

About the Ace Customs, I contacted two different guys early this year about buying Ace Custom Shops, and both were bought for over $6K by someone overseas virtually as soon as they were posted.... Apparently the weak U.S. Dollar has brought a lot of overseas buyers. For as much as some regular Ace Gibson's are going for, I'd rather have a Custom shop, as I'm sure you would also..

I'm curious, do you remember what # Ace's you had? I own a couple and a friend of mine has one also, but we've had ours for a while.... And I'll probably never sell them, One I play and the other is as nice as NIB, I just love them too much!! As far as price goes, I really am indifferent since I have no plans on selling, I'll worry about that if I ever decide to sell. I'm definately in the positive on them, though!

Very nice collection you had there!! None of those #'s match the ones I have. And it looks like all 4 you had had very nice flames (I've seen a few in the Ace LP gallery that didn't look so hot).

I've found the Ace Customs come up for sale in spurts, 6 months you won't see any, then all of a sudden 2-3 will pop up. I'll keep you in mind if I find one locally or elsewhere....

I suspect it is one that I saw on ebay nearly a year ago that sold for around $3800. The guy had lost the COA & could not sell the guitar for nearly what it was worth. When I suggested that theory to this seller, he ignored me. But still, it is the real deal. And $5K is a steal for one of these guitars. I can get a case for under $200 and candy for around $40.

Man this is my favorite guitar...i regret not getting the standard production model and I hope to score one someday.

Here is mine, #201, mint in the box and virtually unplayed. I take it out every 6 months or so and strum on it for a bit and put it away - she has never been plugged into an amp and the pick guard has never been put on - it sits in the original shipping case from Gibson with matching serial number...i have issues!

check her out!

You should send a pic to John Tate who maintains the Ace Frehley homestead site; he collects pics of all the 300, but he has not got one posted for ACE 201:

Is she for sale?

Which pickups are in it? (I am sure you are aware that there was a mixup & some of them got all DP100s and some got a mix of other DiMarzio pickups)

Very nice! If you're like me, you'll never sell it. Did you buy it new or pick it up used?

I agree, you should sent John Tate a pic, he runs a great website and you don't have to have your name listed if you don't want... mine are on there, but with someone elses names (previous owners)

Hey Guys - i have seen his site but never submitted my guitar. I emailed him once and never heard back so figured it never gets updated.

I have had this since day one, I worked at a music shop and ordered it and was the first to open it and touch it and it has not left me since. As far as I know they are Super D pups but i have never taken them out to check - I mean it when I say its NOS condition, I set it up and intonated it when I bought it and have not done anything since except to tune it and play it every few months.

To be honest I have not thought of selling it but again, as you all know...everything is always for sale if the offer is right!!!

I got the Page guitar today. It has very little light wear on it. But it is just what I wanted. Not afraid to get a ding on it. My previous Page guitar was so pristine with a 3D wide flame on it - I was scared to touch it. But this one is nice AND playable. And after buying a few 1968 vintage Les Pauls, the value of the Page guitar is not quite so much when it comes to risking it if I take it out of the house......now to find an Ace custom shop guitar.....

I'm curious since I've never seen one with an original box, can you post a pic or two of the box and where they put the serial # on the box? I know one sold on Ebay for 7K back in jan or feb (this was NOT the $7500 one) that was NIB, can't remember what # it was... But I do know that it was one that was sold to someone overseas..

Gratz on the guitar, she's a beaut!! And best of all you can play her w/o worring about a accidental nick or ding.

As far as the #'s of my Customs shops, I don't want to post them only because I once posted one that I had with the serial # and the trolls came out, I had one guy say he used to own it and made up some crazy story about getting sick and having to sell it, and now he wants to buy it back and all kinds of B.S. I knew the story was absolute crap because I knew the prior owner of the guitar. It was pathetic. I also had someone try to cut in on a guitar I was buying and he went psycho when the guy wouldn't sell him the guitar (I had already paid for it and made the deal).

If I had sold them and didn't have em now, that would be a different story though! I'm sure you might have a story or two if you sold 4 of them, lol...

Yeah, I bought a production model Ace guitar from a KISS collector on ebay. This gutiar had a lot more flame than the prod models are known for. It was from the first run in 97 and it was near mint. I sold it to a guy on ebay who was notorious for buying guitars, getting them in his hands, then making up some crazy story about how the seller defrauded him & would go to great lengths to pressure the seller for his money back. He tried that on me - I suggested that he try to resell on ebay as I sold it to him for less than he could get for it - But he kept threatening me. After a week of ignoring him, he finally stopped because the guitar was pristine, not materially different than advertised and not damaged in shipping.....I am not a guitar store, nor are most of the other seller that he harrassed in this way. So people can't afford to be listing guitars, selling them, shipping them all over the USA for a free look. My auctions always say no refunds, and I try to be as careful as I can to disclose everything & post large detailed pics. This guy was just a clown. So are you interested in selling me one of your guitars? Do you know a guy named Jeff who has several of them?

Yeah man, here are a few pix, check it out...also of note is that the inspection sheet for my guitar was filed out and dated on Ace's birthday, to me that is super cool!!!

my guitar sits in the case in the box in my studio - has never been plugged into an amp or been played for more than a few mins at a time, its SO damn beautiful i am paranoid that I will hurt it, silly huh?

Way cool, thanks for posting!! The one that sold earlier this year with the box did not have this box, lol.... so that one must not have been the original box. The guitar was supposidly in new condition, however.

I don't blame you on not wanting to ding/scratch it, I play mine but I am extremely careful and paranoid when I do, ie make sure I have no metal on, don't swing the guitar so it doesn't hit anything, nothing wrong with that!! I DO play mine like that every so often, it's a great feeling to plug one in and play! Kinda like taking that rare 1965 Shelby GT out for an accasional spin!!

From the years I've been keeping an eye on Customs, most of them have some, if not minor wear on them somewhere from being played, it's just the way it is. I know there are plenty of NIB ones too, but I think most of the people like you that have them just keep them stored away and admire it on occasion.... It's very rare to see an Ace custom shop pop up on ebay, and incredibly rare when it has ZERO wear like yours... awesome!

Very nice that the inspection sheet was filled out on Ace's birthday too, I'll have to check mine now!!
