Is this the case that came with Historics when they were still available? I am a bit confused when you mentioned it's a "Lifton style" case... I guess it makes sense also because there's not current production from Lifton anymore...

Hi,
Yes it is the case that came with the 59 Reissue's at one time. However, there were a few that looked like this, and some were a bit more heavy duty like this one. The cheaper one's don't have the "Gibson" metal plate logo on them.
The story goes that Gibson ended up owing a TON of money to these case manufacturer's, and they finally said "we aren't shipping you anymore cases until you pay up". Well...they never paid. So these cases are quite collectable. It's a great deal, as usually the "Gibson" plated one's go for around $350.00. Thank you for your interest!
