1979 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Standard

I picked this up a few weeks ago - and I just scored an R8, so this needs to go asap!

Details:
This is a great playing maple necked LP - and I put the Shaws from my Silverburst into it, it had come with a Duncan Custom and a Schecter (!) - I will include the Duncan in the sale. The neck pup's lead was too short, so I added a ground wire soldered to the outer braid, and these pups sound amazing!

This guitar was refinished at some point - it says gold under the neck pup, but under the metal mounting plate is says HCSB...so I'm not sure if it's a factory refin or not. With the way the back is colored it seems as if it left the factory gold, not Heritage Cherry.

There is some lift on the fretboard where the neck meets the body. The neck is totally stable, and the guitar sets up very well - I had my luthier take a look at it, and he said it's totally stable and fine - the prior owner owned it for 15 years and he said it was like that when he got it, and it hasn't changed.

Frets are original but have plenty of meat left. There is wear on the back consistent with a 32 year old guitar. Some rash on the back and few dings here and there.

I'll post a few pics - I'd be happy to email pics to anyone interested.

$1350 shipped/paypaled with the Shaws...if you want to add your own pups, I'd be happy to sell it without pups (well, you'd get the Duncan) for $1150 shipped.

Re: 1979 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Standard

sorry for my MLP newb-ness, but I can't figure out how to send a pm. Anyways, I'm VERY interested. Just had a few questions. How do you think the maple neck sounds compared to a normal standard? I can't say I've ever played one myself. Also, what does she weigh? and does it come wiith case? You can email me at caleb@bucktone.com if you'd like. Ihaven't figured out all the MLP functions yet.
Thanks,
Caleb

Re: 1979 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Standard

Just out of curiosity, what's to keep that fretboard from lifting further? Was glue injected underneath it? I never heard of a fretboard being stable with that kind of unattended issue, it will just get worse eventually since air can get into the crack and with air comes humidity

I ask because I had a Norlin era V that had the same issue. It was an easy fix with clamps and a few days for the glue to set after I got fed up and removed the board completely

This is very tempting for the price just to fix it correctly
