FS: 1952 Les Paul *Serious Inquiries Only*

This Les Paul was my grandfather's before being passed down to me. It's an all original 1952 Les Paul, no serial number is on it. It's in very good condition but clearly not showroom condition. I don't play guitar as often as I used to and really would like to see this go to someone who could appreciate it more. It's been appraised by the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY at $30k. So I am asking for $30k for the guitar. Please don't try to talk me down, the price is firm. I'm in no hurry to sell it. Please PM me for any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you!

Seems like a pattern, People post there guitars for sale and you say the price is to high...... Now I dont know what the guitar is worth but Id say if the guy wants 30k for it , he wants 30k for it. I mean it is his guitar, he sets the price not the buyer.

Re: FS: 1952 Les Paul *Serious Inquiries Only*

Give me a break. The guitar is worth at least $30K. You might have better luck with an auction house, though. Maybe consignment, with you getting your $30K.

I have heard that all collectables (art, etc) in the $20K to $100K are having trouble selling right now.

Cool guitar.

I sure hope someone doesn't buy it just to part it out!

To be fair, the true value of anything is only as much as someone will pay. But in this case, someone will pay $30k, it's just a matter of time.

That said, at the moment the entire market is somewhat down. Kinda why I sold much of my collection and am investing in 30's/50's Gretsches! Easy way to make $10,000 in the next few years/decade.

Dude call Dave at Killer Vintage Guitars in St Louis...he might buy it from ya.

Killer Vintage - 3201 Ivanhoe Saint Louis, MO 63139 - Killer Vintage

The 800 number is on the front page.

Gorgeous guitar, nice 70s case, too.

Re: FS: 1952 Les Paul *Serious Inquiries Only*

Thanks for the comments guys . I know $30k may seem steep to some people, but that's ok, especially with the current state of the market. If the guitar doesn't sell, I have no problem hanging on to it.

Do you think this would this just end up on a shelf in Dave's shop? I'd hate to see it just sit, I'd rather sell it knowing the buyer would be able to enjoy it now and then.

No, Dave's in business to sell guitars. He goes to National shows, and does a lot of business on the phone/internet. He's even on the radio here in StL once a week, and we (the audience) try to stump the panel with music/movie trivia. He sells a bit of vintage stuff.

Dave is a great dude.

he can ask anything he wants for the guitar..this is America and we are not communists... but in this terrible market and economy..it is a touch too high in my opinion....and as an American I have every right to express that opinion...

even 18 months ago when things were good in this market $30 would have been too high as they were selling for $18 to $25k...in Excellent condiuiton and with the right case...don't hate the player..hate the game

Re: FS: 1952 Les Paul *Serious Inquiries Only*

If you say so...

people here question the prices on E Bay listings ALL the time...and even criticize sellers for stupid comments etc etc etc...just because a classified is listed here does not make it immune to scrutiny...or question

people come to these boards to learn and if by learning that means a price of a listed item is commented on than so be it...if commenting on the price of an item with no facts to back it up or with no experience in collecting, selling or buying guitars..then you may have a point...BUT you don't... because admitidally those commenting admit they don't have a clue...

I happen to have an idea on this matter and am voicing my opinion...and with facts and expiernce as well. Sorry if it upsets you or your friend's post..

but it is what it is and it is high for that item and especially in this market...

I think enough has been discussed about the price for this thread. If anyone really needs to discuss the price with me or express an opinion, feel free to e-mail me. Thanks
