FS-1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom '54 Reissue

1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom 1954 Reissue (know as a "LE" which is stamped before the serial number). The deal on these guitars is that they are made with single piece necks and bodies (not a 3 piece neck and a pancake body like your typical Norlin Era Gibson). I have owned 3 of them and this was the keeper.

The condition of the guitar is relic'd by years of playing. Lots of dings, dongs, dents, scratches and chips. Some of the paint is worn of the back of the neck.

The good thing is that it has no breaks, repairs, or extra holes. The original tuners have not been removed. Weight is about 9.5 pounds. I believe the previous owner stated the P90 was out but it was put back in. It was done many years ago as the solders look old. I also have the original purple lined case. The only non original part is that it has been refretted with larger frets (IIRC it was done with the plastic tips still against the fretwire which is very expensive and time consuming/most luthiers won't do this or charge extra so you won't ask it to be done). This is a must for guitars from this era as the fretless wonder frets made these guitars difficult to play. The guitar functions and plays incredible.

It is a workhourse and is in the condition its in because it was PLAYED over the last 35 years. Because of the condition, I will offer a 72 hour return policy if not 100% sassyfied.

Serious buyers email me at inson1@verizon.net

$5500 shipped.

I have gained SOME knowldege on collectiong over the last 5 years and look it up...it is still a 70's guitar...and as for the douche saying I'd want three times that and my guitar is 3 piece both ways...so what? It IS stil a 69'...that means it was mad ein the 60's not the 70's!

My 69' is still far more desireable than any 70's..that's a fact..look it up...my 69' was selling for $12-14k 18 months ago and a one pieces selling for $22k...have an idea before you post something that stupid...

i am not questioning your knowledge at all... but, he can still ask what ever he wants for it... and you should have took it in private to question him....

Re: FS-1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom '54 Reissue

I am not quesitoning him at all..he can ask what he wants...as a collector I am saying it is too high for this market...if he can afford to sit on it fine..but it is not a matter of prvate or not..I am simply commenting on his price..nothing wrong with that..

am I supposed to point it out by starting another thread? I don't think so

I am not questioned his right to ask it...as a collector I am stating I think it is too high a price and I have offered some facts to support that...no need to pm at all...I am sure there may have been some browsing here that wanted to know if that was high or not...or a good price...now they know.

Re: FS-1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom '54 Reissue

..and you felt it necessary to crap on his listing. Frankly, it shows a complete lack of class on your part to publicly sabotage Gavin's sale, regardless of whether or not your assessment is factually correct.

Your knowledge is not in question, your lack of tact is. If someone is willing to pay his asking price, they'll pay it. If his price is too high, it won't sell. That's how capitalism works. The market will take care of it all by itself, it doesn't need your help, nor do we, the poor uninformed masses.

Gavin hasn't gone into any of your threads with comments on your asking prices, try and pay him the same courtesy. End of rant.

Gavin, great looking axe, wish I had the scratch, that model is my favorite, save for the '54 originals!!! Best I can do for you is a bump.

Re: FS-1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom '54 Reissue

If you say so...

people here question the prices on E Bay listings ALL the time...and even criticize sellers for stupid comments etc etc etc...just because a classified is listed here does not make it immune to scrutiny...or question

people come to these boards to learn and if by learning that means a price of a listed item is commented on than so be it...if commenting on the price of an item with no facts to back it up or with no experience in collecting, selling or buying guitars..then you may have a point...BUT you don't... because admitidally those commenting admit they don't have a clue...

I happen to have an idea on this matter and am voicing my opinion...and with facts and expiernce as well. Sorry if it upsets you or your friend's post..

but it is what it is and it is high for that item and especially in this market...

Mike,

I don't come here very often and that is why I asked people in my first post to contact me if you have a question. Tire kickers ask the same question multiple time over a 9 day period. If you truely wanted to know and were interested in the guitar I'd have had a email in my inbox and I would have forwarded you my phone number so that we could talk.

Fish,

I priced the guitar $800 cheaper than one in the exact condition sold on eBay 3 weeks ago with 21 bids at an ending price of $5800. I'm sorry that you feel that its not worth that amount of money...to you. I have no doubt that those people who know what this guitar is, know its value. Thanks for helping to keep my thread at the top!
