Question Question: Using Epoxy Resin for glueing my guitar

Hi there,

I've just started building my own Les Paul Inspired guitar. I'm at the point where I need to glue two pieces of mahogany together to form the body. My question is: does anyone have experience with using an epoxy resin as an adhesive instead of regular wood-glue?

I would really appreciate if someone could point out the pros and cons on this one....

Re: Question: Using Epoxy Resin for glueing my guitar

I am by all means a noob when it comes to making guitars... but .

If it were me, I would just use regular titebond wood glue.. tried and true. The joint should be stronger than the wood. Also easier to clean up.

If the pros on here can glue together a neck that is literally shattered with wood glue, Then that is good enough for me.

THe only other alternative I would think of using would be hide glue.

Hide glue.

Epoxy resin will act as an insulator. You don't want a layer of plastic between the wood bits. Hide glue has always been the best way for me to bond wood and have the pieces vibrate together. I use a glue pot and make fresh glue all the time, but the Titebond stuff works fairly well. It DOES expire, so be aware of that.
