Volume Knob Question?

When I turn the volume knob to max (10), the sound/volume turns off. So when I play, I simply do not turn hard the volume knob to 10.

I heard that this is common...not sure...

Has anyone else run into this?

How do I fix it?

Is it a simple thing I could do myself?

Should I simply ignore it and be gentle when I raise volume turning the knob?

Any input?

Thanks

Get a new pot.

What can happen is this:

The carbon path in the pot actually fuses with the contact of the wiper inside the pot.

Often people leave the volume or tone at 10 and when they turn it down it Rips off the contact.

Thanks and I enjoyed glancing at your website. Do you dabble in custom pick guards. I was thinking of putting a red cocobolo (brazilian rosewood) pick guard on my archtop. Its a precious wood that that has a natural shine and a unique swirling wood grain..
