Guess it's time to build another Hellion

So as many of you remember my last attempt to build myself a Hellion ended in catastrophe after it just battled me the whole way. With much encouragement from all the great talent hear I moved on to other projects, putting on hold my hopes for a mahogany body maple top green finish and gold hardware...

Just got back some maple a had sent to bfcg to resaw (thanks Bill!!! great work) that I thought was gonna be perfect for a hellion build. Nice figure. Not AAAAAA but nice nonetheless.

Well that's still on hold, think I'll be using some rosewood for the top instead of maple....

I'm really thinking Gold Hardware would be the way to go. Pickguard OFF on this one. Not sure about using a TOM with a tailpiece or string-through, probably some Gold Reflectors for knobs, and having no prior experience with rosewood tops or bodies, not sure which would be the best way to go for core wood.

Mahogany?
Alder?
Ash?
Maple?

Since rosewood is known for its mellower tone I was really thinking maple to bring some high end back into the equation.

Your thoughts?

Actually I think it may be just the opposite. While it normally is accepted a rosewood fretboard is mellower than maple, I remember reading that George Harrison's all rosewood tele (use in the Let it be days) was brighter than an ash or alter tele. That is to say ice pick bright. It was also very heavy to boot.

There were many versions made to copy the look of that tele. Some sandwiched maple between the rosewood top and back and some used mahogany. My understanding is Harrison's was solid rosewood however.

I can't imagine how much it weighed if it were SOLID That's gotta be rough on your back...

I love mahogany (as do many here) and have some light stuff here set aside I've been saving....
