A Very Bad Smell...

Grain filling and sealing with an egg albumin based glair is a time consuming bitch... One coat / pass down... 3 to go... Times 5... Blech... I'd like to about puke.

Re: What's on YOUR workbench right now?

....crazy Lefties. 624T getting closer to completion. It'll be Daphne blue with black hardware, two humbuckers, rosewood board, SS frets. Noticed earlier that the template slipped when drilling the tuner holes. D'oh! Dowel city, population: me.

Fun with scarf joints!

I put a piece of ebony between the maple. Should look neat when I wind up shaping the neck.

Re: What's on YOUR workbench right now?

I have a bunch of stuff on the bench right now, but the most current are a pair of Double II's:

Some outside shots of the maple guitar:

And in the midst of all the chaos in the shop at the moment, I was finally able to finish up my personal guitar/pickup testing machine. Who said mesquite was just for BBQ?:

Re: What's on YOUR workbench right now?

A 1955 Gretsch Duo-Jet.
Looks pretty good right?

WRONG! Look what somebody did to try to get the action lower. The removed the fretboard and installed a long wedge shape piece of mahogany under it and then glued the board back on (not straight either)

Here's another angle

But wait, there's more!

Some creative neck/body joinery

When in doubt, pin it from every angle

I would love to meet the person that did this so I could slap them
