holly veneer vs.birch

need some advise veneer on old style lespaul head stock I have some birch veneer bought at craft store any one ever use it and what glue is best to apply 1/16 birch veneer to head stock

Birch will work just fine, it will have to be filled and sealed well. Holly is almost completely "grainless" so it is much smoother to start with.
Titebond will be ok to use, it is a non load bearing bond.

I got a bunch of Willow veneer that I use. Might be slighty greenish compared to Holly but the grain structure is identical to Holly.

Works for me !
