LP DC standard build thread
I've decided to start on a build of a LP DC Standard. I've got a lot of extra parts and materials laying around so I've decided to use them to build a double cut LP. It will be a couple of weeks before I can get started because of a new addition to the family as of last Tuesday (baby girl), and some side work coming up next week, (a couple of decks I have to build). I was wondering if anybody would be willing to give me a couple of measurements. I wanted to make sure I would not be off on the control layout. Looking at pictures, it looks like they are at the same spot as a LP single cut, except for the knob at the highest most portion. Also I was wanting the measurements for the back cover plate. THe actual deminsions, or if any body knows where I could get the real thing, and the correct location for it on the back. any help would be greatly appreciated! Here are some pictures to show what I'm talking about.

Thanks man! I hope it works out, but I'm finding out quickly that when you have a kid everything else comes to a stop! It's a good reason to stop though!

Re: LP DC standard build thread
Have you considered using a template from GBT? This looks like what you were asking for -

Re: LP DC standard build thread
I love both of my Double cuts, both the standard and the studio BUT-
I would love them more if they had either a standard 4 knob control layout or a 3 knob with 2 volumes and 1 tone-- The master tone and volume somewhat limits the guitar in my opinion. I am going to add a volume pot to my standard soon-- |

Re: LP DC standard build thread
I've been considering going with the 4 knob, 1 switch layout. I'm usually a big traditionalist when it comes to guitars, but I use the volumes and tones when I play. That is, I don't just turn them all the way up and forget about it. I'll have to see what one would look like with that kind of layout. Maybe instead of a completely stock build I'll make it look like an LP from the fifties. Binding around the body, neck. 50's style top carve, and headstock.
By the way I really do love that DC you've got!

Re: LP DC standard build thread
Alright so I've decided to go with the control layout of a LP Special DC. That way I get the controls I want. I've got the body glued together, I'm waiting for it to dry. Pictures will be coming soon!
