In all of these years messing with wood, I have never sprayed lacquer. I have been a shellac and varnish person with a few forays into frustrating "brushing lacquer." I have been practicing with airbrushes(the StewMAc "bronze age" design and a two stage from HF-pleasantly surprised with the quality-part of a new mini-compressor kit and HVLP touch up gun purchased for me by my daughter and s-i-l.
Do any of our experienced lacquer sprayers do anything to enhance/protect quality of unused lacquer in the can(eg. Blox)-or other method? Should I graft on a vaccuum valve from my big model Foodsaver? All of my new lacquer products are McFadden. Thanks, o'l

Re: Unused Lacquer Preservation?
I'm pretty old school. Just make sure the lid is tight and store the can upside down to trap the airspace away from the lid.
Every once in a while I'll just give it a swirl in the unopened can (not a shake) to minimize any separation. |

Keep the integrity of the seal on the can. Smaller cans can be purchased empty at the paint store for about a buck. I use mason jars to store tinted leftovers.
I have tinted, retarded, drop-in, and various other forms of nitro that has been stored in mason jars for years that are still very much viable. |

Lefty on nitro fumes as never before experienced.
Time to get out the pop corn sit back and enjoy gassed induced labor of color and tall Western tails. LG |
