Re: "camille" small build
Monsterwalley...
What's the final weight of this little Lester? I can't imagine it being all that heavy due to it's size & chambering... I'm thinking your Daughter's going to have the surprise of her life come tomorrow. ![]() ><><>< RB |

Yes-and some of us are even more excited than that-I'm doing the "pee-pee dance" already-(must be my prostate)-seriously, I wish I could be a little mousey in a corner(without a dunce hat) for the presentation-we insist on YT VIDEO!!!!-I'll probably cry(seriously-if you gots just one little girl, you unnerstand). (By the way, I've got a smooth as silk Ambassadeur 2500 on a light caster boron-should I send it up??? For her-you gotta take the Carp Oath not to spirit it away.Ole'Smilin'Lefty

Re: "camille" small build
Thats just the beginning. I made a video of a neck carve and I wanted to post it but most of it had to hit the cutting room floor because it was 22 minutes long in high def(monster file size). When I do get some more time to edit it, I will post it.

Re: "camille" small build
I have struggled with video as well. By the way, the "Carp Oath" is a daily ritual for members of the Order of the Ancient and Honorable "Bugle-Mouth-Bass." I used to smoke them but they are hard to keep lit-SORRY-just could not help myself-
This wait is hard on me-like sitting at Indy on Memorial Sunday waiting for the rain to stop and the track to dry-biding time with very old bad jokes. O'L

Re: "camille" small build
Good news and bad news..............
Bad news first: I can't find the correct usb cable to hook my camcorder up to the computer I have a seperate dvd burner that uses the correct end to the camcorder, but has rca jacks on the other end. I tried burning a dvd and uploading it to my movie program but it won't recognize it. It's late and no chance of getting a cable tonight. My wife has dibs on the computer tomorrow (online studies) for most of the day so it looks like late tomorrow for the video.Good news: She loves it!! That's all she's talked about since the unveiling. Big weight off of my shoulders "whew"......I have a few pics to upload. Cami's great grandmother is the true musician in our family. She has 2 pianos, violins, accordions, organ, harmonica, and an electric guitar ( old silvertone with the amp built into the case) She plays everything! I have to include a pic of her with the guitar. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And what can I say but I couldn't have done it without the great people on this forum!!! Thanks ![]() ok that might have been cheesy, but so what. I work at a sign shop. I will upload vid hopefully tomorrow night.

Re: "camille" small build
Now THAT is what it is all about!
A Kodak moment for sure (ok I am dating myself with an old phrase, but "a digital image moment" just hasn't caught on. )I picture a future jam session on the porch with Cami and dad on guitars, great grandma on the squeeze box and music filling the air. ![]() I am almost sorry the project is done. It was fun to watch. Great job! ![]() ![]()

Re: "camille" small build
Yup--I have some little(OK some big) mists in my eyes. Thank you for sharing that moment.Cami-may I make the first internet request--how about Allman/Betts "Stormy Monday?" Mike T.
PS-perhaps Great Grandma is a bit more familiar with that juke joint stuff -we want her to rip some bigtime blues riffs-is she single? mt

Re: "camille" small build
Absolute brilliant thread!!!
Thank you! As an old-timer Les Paul-geezer this is heartwarming. Great Grandma shows that age has no effect of the love of playing - good to know. I like seeing your daughter securing the guitar by her right hand. It shows great care for a great gift. And Cami - your dad will have to get you a superior case for the guitar now. And, down the road a Marshall (clone -whatever), plus a 4x12 cab. Do not worry about size or weight - dad will be lugging them around... |

Re: "camille" small build
Money spent on materials for this build: $1500
Cost of tools to build a guitar like this: $3000 Cost of USB cable to download video onto computer: $6.20 The look on Cami's face after receiving this amazing guitar: Priceless! Thanks for a fun thread, and congrats on a great build, and a very cute and lucky daughter! Frank p.s. I assume this means that Cami will now have to become a junior member of the MLP!

Re: "camille" small build
Thanks for the kind comments everybody! I've only got a minute then mom's gotta get back on.
The guitar seems to fit her amazingly well. I'm glad I left the width of the board alone. Like Pinefd said, she'll grow into it pretty quickly. Not that I'm a teacher by any means and I don't want to get her started in bad habits, but I taught her the first few bars of "Ghost Riders in the Sky". She seemed really more coordinated than I would have thought starting out. I am thinking of building her an 18 watt combo maybe early next year. As far as gear she's got a full stack marshall clone at her disposal, 67 series 100 watt and 66 jtm 45 (metroamp's btw....) They tower over her!!! I'll get the video up soon as I can.............. chow

Re: "camille" small build
Wow, that was a pita to figure out........
Me being the dummy that I am finally figured out I could use the regular usb cable on the docking station of the camcorder. I thought that it was just for charging. Here is the long awaited video. First time uploading to youtube. First time doing video here. Looks like I need to figure out the quality issue.
