shtdaprdtr ... wow .. after reading this post many times ..... it sounds like a great idea!! ill have to look up the binding router bit and do more research but triple creme pickups and binding with a natural back.. sounds very very nice.. not sure on the ABR-1 tune-o-matic and the brass machine screws.. but ill do more research on that... and also on ... "When you do the top...carefully use a heat gun but not too close to the neck as it may soften the glue...I would 2 finger sand the waist area of the carved top to make it a little more promounced like a 59...when you shoot a color on it...it would pop like crazy."

i picked up a Ace bell truss rod cover off of a Gibson Ace Model - even if its a copy - its nice!

great! im in a holding pattern at the moment... looking into some robot parts and finding time to work on the lp studio... i should be back on the project in the next few weeks. if not earlier

No they should just sit above as there's a lip on the top that's wider than the drill hole (see pic). So what you've got looks fine.
