3d to CNC

A lot of builders are looking into CNC's to make guitars here's a sample of the work showing my 3D models and resulting guitars and necks..

Rendering of the body using a nice texture map.

This guitar was modeled first in CAD then cut on the CNC.

Re: 3d to CNC

I saw the earlier posts from you. You,too have that touch. Your guitar is amazing-I am limited to a marlin hand duplicating unit. I can't CNC because 1-0-1(binary) is higher math to me. The "tunnel" is very evident on your hollowbody. And, my luthier compliments to you--it takes more than CNC to make that guitar-I see soul there.ole'lefty

LG2,

That is great work....I assume Rhino from some of your pics? Good job on the model...

I am a solidworks user myself. What do you render in? I use 3ds Max for most of my rendering work, but it does not like solidworks parts much, so I need to export in .stl or .igs, and with a little work..it does a good job....the mental ray engine is awesome...use Mastercam to cut.

here is a recent pic I posted here:

Modeled a '59 Paul from stew mac plans, let me know if you want to trade models?

I went a little crazy on a recent build...I actually stuffed a USB interface in the guitar, then I stuffed a tuner under one of my pots. If that was not enough, I placed blule LED's under the abolone inlays....

I just picked up the new 59 one..

Sounds cool, I will check it out ..

Most of my models are made in Maya or Lightwave, I do not use Rhino or Max much only for translation lots of guy love it but the interface is odd for me and I like to keep the models soild surfaces and quads if i can.

The rendering software is from Lightwave.
