Another boring build thread

Hi great people of this forum.
I started this thread because I believe everyone (including me) is capable to build a dream guitar (more or less ) , even if you're not a luthier.
I am not saying that this guitar will be perfect, I can not be compared with people like Tom B, or others for whom it is a passion of life. I prefer to play the guitar rather than spending hours on building jigs or templates. unfortunately this is necessary, so I will try to simplify it as much as possible without compromising quality. Do I have already mentioned that it will be something similar to LP 59 (at least I will try )
Any suggestions helping me in this adventure are very welcome.

My wife said: clean up garage and basement before you start to spend money for another expensive toy
so I did today
BTW English isn't my native language , so be forgiven.
garage

Ok it's clean- kind off
I spent some time today planing maple

Than cut and glue

Time for cuting mahagony

Before I cut the body, I've checked angle at the bandsaw

and cut

That's it for today, tommorow is time for sanding and routing some cavities
MrRhoads, tnt423 and Happy Grumpz like this.

Women, always nagging. I try to make my shop stay so dusty and dirty that mine won't
even walk in there. It becomes my little slice of paradise that way.

Great start and welcome to the "club'. Look forward to watch the progress.

Not the messiest work area I've ever seen...but it's definitely in the top 10 . I'm looking forward to your build, looking good so far.

re: Another boring build thread

OK.
I have some work done - sanding. For this nasty job I used belt sander for outer curves and my drill press for inner curves.

Since the table is small and only hold by one screw is very important to set de 90 deg angle and checking very often during sanding.

It's not showed on this pic , but i used little wooden block under table to make it more stiff.
and the result

than I moved to my drill press

After couple minutes....

It will required some final sanding. Now i'm going to grab some food and rout cavities or should I finish for today and play guitar

Forget the food.

You'll eat and play with your LP when it will be done.

Get back to work! Now!

Good, my son.

By the way I'm the worst slob you'll ever know. I'm the epitome of laziness...

Good job so far, the forum wants you to succeed. Or to fail. As long as you post pics!

Pfff.
Keep on posting. Everyone's doing their own builds their own way.
Tools vary, working spaces are different and so on.
If there's even one thing that somebody can learn (and steal), then it's worth having a thread.

Btw,
I think I'm stupid. And I don't even need an LP build for that.

Building a guitar is mostly about practice. Even stupid people can do it if they try hard enough. Quit whining and just build it!

PS.
I'm sure you're not stupid, just joking around, don't take it the wrong way.

re: Another boring build thread

Little update.

Printed inlays on foil and transfered to sheet.

Checking accuracy, looking good.

I used drill sander to create the right radiuses

The inlays look better on dark fretborad, so I'm sending the brighter one back - I don't like it.
Cheers
