What do ya think of this, now??

I like the cutaway and the lower bout, but not too crazy about the upper bout.

Re: What do ya think of this???

The Florentine cutaway is really nice. Is the lower bout supposed to be asymmetrical, or is it just photo distortion?

You have seen the Les Paul Florentine, right?

Re: What do ya think of this???

Just reshape the horn, flip the bottom half of the lower bout over to shadow it on top
and blammo. How about cutting the horn back, towards the floor like this?

Not too bad, I could dig it. It's a very subtle change of the standard LP shape. Maybe push it a bit more?

Personally, I find your design very attractive and the a symmetry just adds to how interesting it looks. I wouldn't change a thing.

That kind of reminds me Bruce Sexauer's a symmetrical acoustic cutaway design:

This florentine design kind of reminds me of the 1951 les paul prototype...

I don't mind the sharp-ended cutaway, but I agree with you - I don't like the upper bout design. Too rounded

Re: What do ya think of this???

The upper bout makes it look like one of those Daisy Rock guitars. Are you SURE you want a pointy sharp horn Les Paul?

Designing your own guitar totally makes you realize that almost everything has been done before. On my two original designs I've built people were quick to come up with similar examples that I'd never seen before.

I think you can come up with something a little more TKO specific, so keep at it! I dig asymetrical lower bouts, so I think you're on to something there!

Re: What do ya think of this???

Well, for the record, I like the extra curviness of the upper bout.

And I don't care for asymmetrical lower bouts, in general, so I guess I'm opposite everyone else.... ?

Re: What do ya think of this, now??

I like it!!!
i think that the extended right lower bout and left upper bouts give a nice thick look that i think is sometimes lost on single cut designs.
also i like that, while shallower than the les paul, the cutaway still looks very natural and not awkwardly shrunken or pointy, as (IMHO) i think that comes off as a little forced sometimes. (That said i do really like some other designs that have the smaller Cutaway)

Yours looks new and yet still chunky, which is an awesome thing in my book!

looking forward to a build..

Re: What do ya think of this, now??

only thing is my red Rubarb is going to be a 24.5 (24.39) scale but easy to adapt to 24.75 if you wanted.

I like where you are going

1. MUCH better
2. See #1

Two days is nothing; I started designing the Sully '71 some time in 2010, I think. The initial drawing didn't take long, but once you start making templates, you start to see things that you may not have seen on paper. At least, I did.

Gotta get around to building a couple of them; I've had the Korina sitting for about 6 months.

Yeah, there are a few different templates that you see in the opening credits, and then the last version in the layout video. Good times!

Your final drawing kind of brings this to mind, although the mattocaster has a slightly more aggressive take to it
