Re: help ...... stripped screw head !

If you have a dremel type tool and a steady hand you could try cutting a new slot in the head. There's also screw remover tools available all over the place (I see you're in UK - I've seen them in pound shops before). If you're in a rush you could carefully glue a screwdriver into the stripped head.
Good luck!

Re: help ...... stripped screw head !

In the past, when this has happened to me, I cut the screw head off, slipped the cover
off and removed the pick-up, which left just the screw shank. Used a set of locking pliers
to remove what was left. Then I just used a new screw to replace it all. My guitar was
older, so I'm sure the wood was soft in that area, so keep that in mind if you choose to
go that route. Big box stores do sell screw-removal tools that seem to work very well.

+1

The easiest way to do that is by drilling through the head of the screw with a bit the size of the screws shank. Once you're through, the head will start spinning and you can then proceed to remove the ring as emoney said. YMMV.
