Re: Roman has no internet connection right now.

Hi folks.
I'm glad you had fun with the photoshop stuff. When I showed Amber the thread she laughed so much I had to make sure she didn't pee herself!

It was funny stuff!

Right now I am doing some remodeling work on the building that the shop is in to get it ready.

Internet for me is hit and miss right now.

In about a weeks time I should be 100% up and rolling.

Until then I will be popping in and out.
RR

PS. Greg, you behave!

Hi Hector. It is in Van Nuys, easily accessable from all the major freeways.

The more a jpg gets saved, the worse the quality. . It is a very lossy format. Kinda like making an MP3 of an Mp3 of an Mp3.....
Eventually it all gets blurry. There's a cure, but it requires knowledge and bandwidth.
Hey Greg, I'm getting a small package ready to send your way. Odds and ends I figure you'll appreciate.

+1 it does give it an old picture just re found in a scrap book quality.
and with audio i hate when people dont use lossless file types. dont you want to hear your favorite guitarist rip in HI-FI

Another way to cut down on the loss is to save it as a .bmp , keep this as your master then after you have finished putzing with it, save the copy as a .jpg . Your origional won't keep degrading.
Great thread btw...

Yeah, I go tiff, than back to JPG for reposting. Plus I save at maximum resolution.

Most photo editing software lets you eliminate the jpg compression when you save it keeping the quality the same.....well the GIMP does on Linux......

Trueish. If it's a JPG and resaved, it is lossy, but good softare and knowledge of how to use it can make a JPG last a lot of resaves. Just resave at maximum, always and things will be fine.
Always keep the original, never save over itself just for safety. Simply rename the new on , maybe the same name but an M after it . Then they get saved next to each other too.
Never erase the master. First rule of recording.

i think a good way of putting it for the older crew here is, you know what a vinyl record sounds like when its been played a hundred times too many? it starts to degrade.
