Yep, they're gone due to official request, apparently - it's mentioned in a thread on here somewhere. Stewmac had a few copies in stock last I heard, however, so you can always call/e-mail and see.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

The Bartlett plans are better anyway. I found the stew Mac plans sorely lacking. I work for an architect and do detail drawings for a living. I have drawn up a comprehensive set of plans including each of the seven template drawings and a body outline template. I'm refining them as I finish a couple of my first builds and then will offer them to Tom, and anyone who buys his plans.

Here is a shot of my templates - these are glued to a piece of mdf and sit inside the box jig. I also have drawings for that as well. :-)

and here are my drawings -

I needed to draw these up for myself as a way for me to understand the build. It helps immensely to a total newb trying to build these, and gave me confidence that my cuts would be correct in expensive wood!

Cheers Peter.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

Funny! They're still being advertised in the recent catalogue?

I know that they're not selling ready-to-inlay Abalone, or Gold/Black MOP LP inlays (I'll give you three guesses as to the reason why). White is still available, though.

Peter-you are adding to the "Canadian Mystique" legend with those drawings. As a repositor of drawings and plans, I ask that you please add me to your list of future customers.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

No problem lefty. I bought Tom Bartlett's plans and used those as a base from which I drew up these. I found Tom's drawings to be very good, so I feel these are just an enhanced set of his plans. I'm not looking to make any money off these or cut into Tom's plan sales. I'm trying to figure out the best way to distribute these to the people that have purchased or will purchase Tom's plans. I've e-mailed Tom and I'll see what he thinks.

I didn't like seeing that someone posted the Stew Mac plans. Someone spent quite a bit of time on those and I don't think that was a cool thing to do. Although those plans aren't that great IMO.

Cheers Peter

Nice work Peter!
Agreed, always good to draw up your own set of full set of to-scale plans - really helps to plan and understand the build

I have purchased a set of Bartlett plans and currently waiting on them. I would gladly purchase yours as well. You spent the time and effort making them. I see no reason why you shouldn't be compensated for that work.

Heck-I still send out the 1:1 Catto 10 to those who ask politely and understand what they "are not." In fact I totally forgot one I need to send. Sorry.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

I'd like to see if I can include these in addition to our regular ones. I'm out of town now, but I'll get in touch with peter this week. They look great! There areas of our plans where we could use a bit more detail or clarification, and these could do it.

I have the Bartlett plans and the StewMac plans and even though I'm not making an exact replica I don't think there can be too much information. I would purchase these plans as well especially for the top carve.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

Peter (pshupe), Magnus and I have been working for the last several weeks on improving the plans to something a lot more detailed and comprehensive. They have been shipping now for a few weeks, so a few of you guys must have them by now.
Anyway, they are about as good as we can dream of making them. the first set of plans relied on you measuring the drawings to get the measurements for the most part, but the new plans have just about every conceivable measurement printed right on them.
We have also made a few changes here and there and have included an additional scale for the fretboard. now you have the option to use the stew mac pre slotted fretboard, or the correct vintage rule of 18 scale.
MRJ5 and dgriff like this.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

The stewmac plans are just plain wrong, apparently. Most importantly the overall width. I have a hard copy, and probably a scan, PM me if you want them, but you're probably better off with something else.

Re: stewmac 59 plans

Fred - I would suggest that you NOT distribute copyrighted material as it is against the law, and frankly I find it is just morally wrong. I think that anyone who has ever done any drawings can agree that it takes a lot of time and effort to develop a decent set of drawings.

If you want an excellent set of drawings, at what I think is a rock bottom price, the Bartlett drawings are extremely precise and vintage correct.

Regards Peter.
