How to fix it?

Hi,

somehow i was not careful enough. My neck fit is not as it should be.
I was too fast and did not test fit often and because of that there is a gap of about 0,7 mm!

How can i fix it?
Or glue a very narrow piece of wood to the neck?
And will there be a disadvantage in the tone?

Thanx for your help!

Re: How to fix it?

There are basicly 4 locations you could have a gap in an LP mortise and tenon neck joint. you did not say where the gap. It hard to answer on incomplete info.

Now I am guessing the gap is between the fretboard extention and the top?

Re: How to fix it?

it is the mortise and tenon neck joint.
When i put in the neck in the mortise there is about 0,7 mm gap on the sides.

make shims that keep the FB properly centerd. There will be no noticible tonal loss as long as the shims are good fit. I like to make and dry fit proof my shims then glue then first to the tenon. Effectively making the tenon wider. That way you glue in the neck as if it normally would. this is a common and simple fix to do.

It will take some dry fitting and measuring to be sure you keep your neck alighnment in relationship to the bridge correct.
