BJA Les Paul Jr tuning Problem
I am having a problem keeping the g string in tune. I bought the guitar and had it setup rather quickly. It was set up about a month ago and has the same strings from the setup. It has never stayed in tune. I noticed the g string tuner seems to tune up then slip back a little bit. It is harder to tune than the rest of the strings. Do you think this could be an issue? If so, are there better tuners for a Les Paul Jr. The one on it now are three on each side. All three are connected together.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. see image at www.millstar.net |

Re: BJA Les Paul Jr tuning Problem
Fold a piece of 800 grit paper in half and gently work the fold back and forth in the slot. Tune up the string and put a tiny dab of Chapstick in the slot.
Fixed.

Re: BJA Les Paul Jr tuning Problem
Thank you so much for your thoughts.
Is this because the nut may not be holding the string steady. The deeper slot will allow the string to remain in one spot on the nut? This will keep the tesion more consistant? I looked at the nut and the slot does not cut through the whole nut. Do you think this is why it will not stay in tune. Because it is setup, I don't think i want to lower the string with a deeper slotted nut. Maybe ajust a subtle increase? Thanks again. I apprecuate your help |

Re: BJA Les Paul Jr tuning Problem
Don't deepen the groove, slightly widen it. The issue is likely that the G string is getting caught or is "binding", which is why your tuning probably tends to "jump" and it's tough to get it just right or to keep it in that key once you get it there.
