a lot of people wouldn't do what you guys are doing for MLP. and a lot of those guys wouldn't get together and co-operate on a project such as this. and a lot of those people wouldn't go out of their way and pick the finest materials they had on hand to build the guitar. they would instead use what was cheap and something they could save money on. i say you're someone special.
 whoever wins this puppy is going to have something very special in their hands and i'm sure they'll treasure it always.

We are going to rough profile the fingerboard.
For myself, I like the "two tone look", but I think most prefer a dark Brazilian board . We are going to trim it down. First I take my trusty LP fingerboard pattern, which I might add I stole from MAX  , and lay it down on the board. I have now laid some tape down so I can see my markings, and I draw a line to cut off the excess.  So here we go, everything on the outside of the line will be gone.

Please excuse the next set of pictures.
It's a bit difficult to be working power tools with one hand, while I am taking a picture, so they are a bit out of focus. Here I am trimming the excess on a scroll saw.  Once the excess has been trimmed, I clean up the cuts a bit on the belt sander.

i dont know if its the angle and lighting but it looks like the fingerboard fades lighter in color where the higher frets would be. if so that would look real nice on a burst seeing the fingerboard itself is almost bursted

contrary to popular belief, i am not anti-social .. people just tend to *@#$^ me when they open their +*^%$* ..
that said, although my shop is closed down and everything is either in storage or the local dump (you dont want to know) i am going to contribute what little i can, the 12th fret inlay .. i will say that i appreciate the invitation (thanks roman and flick) to contribute to this guitar and to the forum and i hope this guitar does what all handmade instruments are supposed to do: inspire the player .. excuse me but i've suddenly developed a nose bleed and must take leave .. .. |
