Whoa - that's some sexy wood you got there!!!

I still frequently check the pictures of your Mockingbird... one of my favorite build threads! - Keep up the great work.

A few questions regarding the Strats, if I may:
What scale length did you use? - Original fender?
What neck angle (if any) did you use?

cheers,
-Tom

Re: ,.;-~*~-;.,Vistoluk's strat build,.;-~*~-;.,

The strats are 25.5 inch (unsure about Vistoluk's) and there is no neck angle, they're laid flat.

Just love that burst, there's a clarity and purity to it that just shouts class...!!

Ha thanks tom I have that guitar buried under a few other cases right now kinda forgot about it until now

Yeh ptate's right I used 25.5 and no angle, it's pretty standard.

Re: ,.;-~*~-;.,Vistoluk's strat build,.;-~*~-;.,

So i have a bit of a dilema as far as my finishing goes....since i'm sprayign outside.

It's about 100+ degrees here and the humidity is around 85....MN....

I sprayed my first of last 4 coats yesterday (coat 9/12, after I did a complete level sand) when the temp. was down to 90 and humidy to 70 (lateron), but the finish dried really fast and I got alot of blushing. THe lacquer I sprayed was reduced 40%, and i've never had this problem so it must be due to the humidity. any advice on whether what the min. humidity should be before I spray? I just don't want to take any chances, but at the same time, I sort of have a deadline. thanks

Re: ,.;-~*~-;.,Vistoluk's strat build,.;-~*~-;.,

i just got thru with a set of cabinets and they blushed pretty bad on me. i thought i would have to sand and recoat, but i decided to try to see if a soft clean rage wet with lacquer thinner would help. it fixed me right up. if you wipe too much, though, it softens the finish and makes it tacky and smudges. i'd try it on a test area gently, first, though. i'm not a finishing expert, but desparate times calls for desparated measures.

Thanks for the imput! I tried that under the pickguard but figured it'd be best to just spray a thinned down coat. Kind of the same thing but less chance of me using uneven pressure. WOrked out well and all the blushing disappeared.

Haha thanks, I was working on someone's instrument and was at the point where i had to set it up so I just brought my amp down. not a perm. part of my shop!

UPDATE:

I've sprayed the final 4 coats on my first neck! It will be strung up in 2-3 weeks so I can see how everything plays, then i'll buff it out about 5-6 weeks after that!

The second strat should be finished up today, if all goes well with the weather today and spraying. I'll try and get some pics up tonight! Off to do some level sanding....

Can't wait to see - this should be good!

I'll be trying your setup for a spraybooth in September, I think. Thanks for that again.

Re: ,.;-~*~-;.,Vistoluk's strat build,.;-~*~-;.,

Okay Instrument number 6 is finally completed (excepting it will get buffed in about 6 weeks). This is one of 3 strats that i've been building. The other strat is at the same point but I will probably not get it put together until it is buffed, unless There is a potential buyer that wants to see it put together.

Send me a private message if you're interested in buying this guitar, i have yet to order pickups so those could still be personalized for the buyer. Hope you like it!

Beautiful guitar, love the flame on the neck, someone took a bite out of your headstock though?
