Re: Roman Rist- Where is my sandwich?
Quote:
I heated it up in the toaster oven. Went outside to the garage to grab a Corona. You gotta have a Corona with Carne Asada. It's a given. I came back in and I don't know how he did it. But he left behind some evidence. I must of interrupted him because he was only able to get off with a couple of bites. Damn YOU Roman Rist! DAMN YOU!!!

Re: My Rist~o~Tele is DONE!
Thanks dude! So do I. I've yet to have my hands on it - but the time is drawing near! Roman has been putting the finishing touches on it for a little while (it was pretty much near completion when I "commissioned" it.
Roman had already had it in the works at that point as a side project). Again, updates to come. Roman recently installed the neck pup, hardware, did the wiring, added a bone nut, MOP inlays, and removed the frets - flattened the radius - and reinstalled frets. Its gonna be killer... |

Re: My Rist~o~Tele is DONE!
Lead time for Roman is 6-9 months - the one that is taking longer was done as a "special" deal (I know no details) for a member w/ the understanding that it would be on permanent back burner and completed in "spare time."
I got lucky, really - since Roman had a near completion Tele lying around that was exactly what I was looking for... He mentioned that people might be miffed that I'm getting mine so fast - but the truth is that he really didn't have to do too much with it as it was mostly finished when I called dibs on it. |

Re: My Rist~o~Tele is DONE!
I'm still waiting on mine, but I'm on that "permanent back burner."
Oh well, maybe it will be done soon... or not, either way. I'm not rushin' him. Nice ristocaster, Dan... even if we've seen it a thousand times.

Re: My Rist~o~Tele is DONE!
Ask Roman yourself. Alot of times, especially for a build that apparently got cancalled during the build could be way off the norm, plus materials and certain eleements can gereatly vary depending on how much the luthier has invested (scored a bunch of good cheap wood vs paying through the nose, buyer supplying etc) , favors, trades and whatnot. I have a custom (not rist thoough I want one) built guitar that I got a crazy good deal, due to several circumstances, in most cases its not kosher to discuss price on work like that, as others can get pissed if they dont or didnt get the exact same treatment.
My price for the build I had done that I mentioned earlier was mere fraction of the average, therfoe I dont talk about it, my price for same luthiers current work likwise is considerably lower than the price it would be for the average joe, as well as extra's he wont just do for anyone due to our close 20 something year relationship if/when I ecide to pull the trigger on one. Just like my tattoos.....I'm about 70% covered and the most comomon question i get asked is how much I spent on them, and I dont reply to most of them, as yhe grand total is probably going to be less than they paid for their first likely much less elaborate piece. It pays off big time to make the right freinds someimes, a simple random act of kindness and moderate generosisty at the rifght time and place can be amply rewararded every one in a while. OOPS!!.... Congrats Dice!!! cant wait to hear her in action!

Re: My Rist~o~Tele is DONE!
Gishuk - Will Boggs wound up one of his hot Tele pickups for the bridge, and the neck humbucker is wound with vintage 50's wire, and splits to a single coil w/ a tone knob push/pull.
