Re: Luthier/Tech List

Can I apply my mentor and myself here? We're in Richmond but willing to take on anything in Virginia or DC. Jack also does Amps for players like Tom Principato, Danny Gatton (RIP), etc.

He's in San Antonio, but he's originally from Davenport, Iowa. He's by far one of the most respected repairmen in the midwest: Paul Munden. If I weren't such good friends with Dave Johnson, my guitars would be going to Paul without hesitation. But, I don't know if he's still doing it or not.

Re: Luthier/Tech List

I am located in Davenport, Iowa. Right on the Mississippi River, across from Rock Island Illinois. 180 miles southwest of Chicago. I can offer re-fret, binding, routing with two Overarm Pin Routers and three router tables. I do not spray so I am limited to small area cosmetic repairs or natural wood complete finishes. I am also equipped to do fairly complex inlay. At this time I am not doing complete guitars but I am getting there.
I also do setup on electric or acoustic and for "bolt-ons" I can convert to threaded insert, and built in neck angle adjuster. Email is in my public profile. I am 62 and have been working on guitars since age 17, starting with custom pearl work and on through building. I am a semi-retired lawyer looking to avoid mischief with too much time on my hands(hey, there is a song there, right?) J. E. "Mike" Tobey- WhiteHorse Guitars, LLC and New Traditions Tool & Finish
