Hello, N.G.D. and Happy Birthday to me

Great forum here, guys! Lots of good info and knowledgeable members. While I don't know 1/10th of what some of you do about about Les Pauls, I look forward to hanging around and learning/sharing more.

This forum got me gassing so bad, I broke down and treated myself for my birthday. I just hit 40 and figured this was a good time to give myself a treat.

Now, I can't afford to go too crazy, but I went out and played a few Studios, Traditionals, Traditional Pros, and picked a Standard. Swung a pretty decent deal on a 2008 used/like new. I wasn't sure about the finish at first, but I think it's growing on me and the burstbucker pros sound great! Yeah, it's chambered, but it pumps out rock solid tone and sustain. And, I'm a big fan of the asymmetrical neck (that was a big deciding factor for me).

I know there are a ton of purists here who really don't dig the newer models. Hell, I'm inclined to agree on some points. But for me, finding the right balance of features/tone/playability/looks vs price, this fills the bill for now.

Here are a few pics of my 2008 Standard Light Burst. What say ye?

Beautiful Finish. Nothing wrong with chambered Les Pauls.

Welcome, I'm new here myself...
