Intro from a so-called "troll"

Having, as I said on my first post (on the "Poker Chips!" thread) joined (after years of lurking, I finally had something to say that I thought might be of interest) this forum to provide a consumer advisory, and been accused of trolling by the vendor, I thought I should post an intro.
I've been involved with various aspects of punk since the late '70s, first "singing" in a '77ish band in college (til I got thrown out (of college , not the band)) as a teenager , then in the '80s in a NYHC [hardcore] band, then in the '90s in a couple of art/math-metal-ish units when I was in law school; then, while I was in grad school, came playing theremin in a 12-piece punk showband that gigged a lot . I was always futzing around with fx to add harmonics to the theremin.
A couple years ago, a lightbulb came on over my head- a slide guitar is like a chordal theremin, with cheatmarkers, aka frets.
It has often been pointed out to me by my Tele- & Gretsch-obsessive brother (& others) that I am tone-deaf, but I always remind these mockers of the old joke about the man, asked whom he'll be able to satisfy with his inadequate, um, equipment, who replies, simply, "Me."
I now have a Canadian Dillion LP Jr DC clone with TundraTone harness & '50s bee & Alnico Vs subbed into the stock p/u, an SX Liquid H/H (the one I've been waiting almost 6 mos for a poker chip for), and a 5-string Douglas Keef tele clone with a custom neck & "Finder Telepathic" decal. Ampwise, Vox Pathfinder 15r modded with 10" North Coast Black Dog, Vox AC4TV8 with Mullards, and ZT Lunchbox; sometimes these go through a 1x12 with Eminence Tonker. Standard pedals are Pitchblack -> Algal Bloom -> Pharaoh -> Chicklet (on a custom WalMart pedalboard- cutting board + Velcro + rubber feet). I also have Devi Ever SodaMeiser w/chaos, Bluebox, Vox wah, Moog LPF, DanEcho, & of course my old warhorse BigBriar [Moog] theremin.
I'm currently obsessed with Suzi Quatro, the Runaways, and the skinhead glitter/disco genre generally; and always with the Holy Trinity: Stooges/Velvets/MC5, as well as St. Johnny [Thunders], Dolls, Clash, Who, Mott, Slade, hardcore, stoner rock, the list goes on and on.
I'm about to turn 53, married & a father, and earn my living as a research scientist. I have never had a driver's license (or a barber's license either, as I also do not cut hair), as I am an obsessive cyclist. After living in Brooklyn for most of the last 32 yrs, I recently moved with my family to the Hudson Valley area; I still work in NYC.

Re: Intro from a so-called "troll"

Hello Chuck here. I also am a new boy at the myles paul forum. You must have run into some of our milder fellows and took a little hazing. I almost caught a date with a couple of them myself. They mean well and like to look out for us here. I would like to say welcome to my les paul and maybe things will improve since you are trying to be a nice gentleman. It looks like midnight has crept up on me right quick and I'm finished with my little surprise I got this evening so I'll just say good night to you. If I wake up tomorrow I'll be back around after church.

I bought it used, it has velcro over all the writing so hard to say. It doesn't have a power jack (I use a battery adapter to put it on the daisy-chain), if that helps identify it. It's certainly nothing vintage or fancy.
It sounds OK. One of these days I'm going to open it up & change it to be voiced to wah a bit higher, as it's now more set up for the Theme from "Shaft" (not that there's any thing wrong with that) than Stooges/MC5 sounds.
Thanx to all for all the kind greetings.

Re: Intro from a so-called "troll"

Posting here mostly to test my new signature, but I'll just take a minute to say more about why all MLPers should support Jail Guitar Doors USA in their fabulous work; when I get my forum legs on, I'll probably post a separate thread to tell folks more.
They basically raise $ to put guitars in the hands of prisoners, through doing benefits & playing shows inside the walls where they donate the gear to the inmates.
It's run by a guy that many here may well have a lot respect for despite his unfortunate fondness for Strats, Bro. Wayne Kramer of the MC5, who himself did Federal time, inspiring the Clash song "Jail Guitar Doors", which brings us back to "do". It started in the UK with Billy Bragg, and UK-based MLPers should check out Jail Guitar Doors - rehabilitating prisoners through music & support their great work.
This is a great program that can truly change the lives of folks both inside and when they re-join the currently un-incarcerated. It's a for-real, grass-roots, musician-run organization that can put any spare beer coupons you have taking up space in your wallet to real good use- give til it hurts!

Re: Intro from a so-called "troll"

BTW, apologies & no offense to all the other fellow worshippers at the shrine of St. Johnny with really similar names- the robot only told me that I couldn't be called "LAMF" & didn't mention all the other very similar ones I now realize exist.
To anyone who's local to NYC, Johnny is buried next to Jerry in a cemetery in Queens. I've always wanted to make a visit on the anniversary of JT's death (4/23)- anyone down? Maybe I'll post something when it gets warmer....
