Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
Because I got a Gibson LP and I seem to join forums for whatever I'm interested in. I'm also a member of a couple skiing forums and the unofficial forum for employees at my airline, among others.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I was warned about this place. Told it was a bad place. But then I kept seeing links to the build threads and to the vintage forum. I wanted to see the photos on the vintage forum, so I reluctantly opened an account.
Where I live, in the mountains, the winters are long and cold and the snow is DEEP. MLP has mega content! Those two things go hand in hand! I usually read until I am inspired to go into the other room and jam. It doesn't take long to sort out the people you 'recognize' even though you have never met them. There are now some people here that I would walk right into a room and sit down with and start talking to them like I had known them all my life. Mostly because I kinda have. If you have played music and played in bands, played parties for free, and crappy little clubs for free, and had the time of your life doing it, you already know me.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
When i finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a Gibson LP i started doing all sorts of research to make sure i got the most for my dollar, The over all atmosphere and attitude of this site compared to the other LP site i found, this one just seemed to be better.
I did my basic research, read all the stickies, then asked my questions and got great pointers and advise. After that, the rest they say is history |

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
Because AXE was round here.... and
.... I went to search on how to fix an issue on one of my Ford F150's ... ... and I discovered a forum for that ... and have been to several meet ups too. ... Then I thought ....hey ... there might be a Gibson forum ... yep ... so I went round.. Heck ... I was sober and clean too ... even Duane V... liked me back then ...... ..... and then I fell off the wagon and went to cussin folks out etc in between psychotic posts that were deleted for the most part .... ...and I learned what being banned was .... I learned what being double banned was ya know coming back as a different name ... and I eventually just went the fu-k off totally and got a permanent ban .... for coming back as 4 different guys all at once and ngetting in a mega brawl with myself ... and any other poor fool .. nearby ... I tried ... Everything SG ... but those guys are all wacked out similar to me so there was not the conflict I need .. and the place is slow ... ....... So .... I came over here ... and promptly got in a big fight ... after I posted a vid of some comedy stuff insulting the quality of Gibson .. then ya know I was banned for I think ...threatning that rabbit guy and his ribbits ,,,, and also saying I was going to drive across the country to mess someone up ... etc. ..... Then I got a reprieve from ALEX ..... and so I dialed it back. ........ WALLA ..... |

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I was using Google to find some information on a guitar and seen a thread from here with a fellow crying over his old lady leaving him.One thing lead to another and before the evening was over, the gloves came off,I made a couple of friends and have been hooked ever since.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
Googled how to change pickup covers and one of the links sent me here. Looking at all of the pictures of everyone's beautiful guitars got me signed up.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
Well... I was actually referred to MLP by colchar, when I'd met him in person by accident in a music shop. I had just acquired my first LP, and being a Norlin era LP Custom, I wasn't sure about the specs. I saw some guy (who ended up being colchar) who looked like he knew what he was talking about when speaking to the sales guy, so I thought I'd approach them and join the conversation. He didn't know the answer to my question, but he'd referred me to MLP, because he said I would definitely find answers there...
1000+ posts later, here I still am... and loving it!

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I joined MLP after getting my 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded which is my first Les Paul. Initially I googled for tuners but found a wealth of knowledge here on pots, caps, and pickups. Now my LP has locking tuners, GregWinds, and a re-wire kit from RS Guitarworks. This winter I bought my second Gibson which is a VOS 1958 TV Junior. Thanks MLP for feeding my GAS!

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I had joined a few years ago as I had always been a lurker and just wanted an account. It wasn't until last year when I bought some pickups from BB that he told me about this place which I already knew about and I decided to finally start posting here instead of just lurking. But I've seen a lot of stuff on this board, I remember all of the "classics" if you will.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
Because as an admitted Epiphone owner the Les Paul forum wanted me to pay to use the back door entrance.
Something to that effect anyway. It was a long time ago.

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I've loved LPs all my life, and found this place often through Google searching questions I had. Most of the people seemed friendly and it seemed like a great community. Joined up after a couple months of lurking and couldn't be happier. Absolutely love it here

Re: Why did YOU join MLP?
I joined in September 2008. I will admit, I was a bit of a dumb nut when I joined, but I have made quite a few good friends here.
![]() I think what did it for me, is at the time I was learning about guitars. Not music theory, but I just wanted to learn about the instrument. My Dean VX was my test dummy and I learned a lot about the guitar in all corners with that axe. I took the neck off, learned about pickups and wiring, intonation, neck adjustments (granted I'm not good at setting a guitar up quite yet). But in my quest to learn more about it, I always ran across a thread on MLP, and then I finally joined. I was twelve!
