Plugged in sound not jibing with acoustic sound; what gives?

I have an R7 and an R8, both are completely stock with Burstbucker #1 and #2s. The R8 sounds really alive and zingy acoustically, it is one of the reasons I bought it. However, no matter how much I adjust the pickups, it sounds kinda dead plugged in.

The R8 is a bit lighter and somewhat less resonant acoustically. However, it sounds incredibly alive and vocal when plugged in with only some minor adjustment to pickup heights.

Can anyone explain. How can I get the acoustic sound of my R8 to come through electrically? Thanks!!

You might have some bum pots, like my R9 did. I put in an RS Guitarworks kit with Luxe repro Bumblebees, and the guitar came alive. Literally sounded like a blanket was taken off the front of my amp.

What amps have you tried it through? One? Several? Just askin'....

What tone caps have you got? They can kill the plugged in sound dead...

Everything is stock on the R7 and R8. My amp is a Sewell Wampus Cat; kinda like a updated tweed Super. It's the only amp I've played them through.

No. Fairly easy, definitely not expensive.

When were they made? Pre 2002 models had poor pots and caps.

Thanks everyone. The R8 was made at the end of 2005, not shipped until 2006. The R7 is a 2007. It doesn't sound like any part is a dud. The R8 just has a lifeless tone compared to how great it sounds unplugged. I'd like to capture a bit of that.

Re: Plugged in sound not jibing with acoustic sound; what gives?

Hey..sometimes the guitar is just a dog and nothign you can do about it except sell it...has nothing to do with amps, strings and such...

I've had great acoustic LP's that were dogs and dead sounding acoustic LP's that were stellar!!

Ther eare dogs and ther are good guitars whether thay are true 59's or VOS...don't think every single 59' LP made sounded like pearly gates because they didn't...

It can be dead electronics or it can be the wood. Some guitars are just tone turds no matter what you do.
