New 08 R9's
Is it just me, or did they finally get the burst job down with the new R9's? Sorry i'm having technical difficulties with posting URL's or pics. Go on Ebay and check them out....looks like a fresh batch from the factory. I'm diggin it.

Re: New 08 R9's
I don't know which pics your referring to, but some of the earlier 08's I've seen on eBay didn't really do it for me. Hopefully, they are few and far between.

Re: New 08 R9's
I was referring to the ones I saw on there a month or so ago. Not the ones your speaking of. Link? It's my hope that the not so great ones I saw a while back are few and far between.

Re: New 08 R9's
I've seen about four of the 2008 R9's for sale. I think all four were WC VOS guitars and, honestly, I didn't care for them. If my memory is correct, they were all made of what I would call fiddleback maple - the really tight, mostly straight flamed maple. They also seemed to have really pronounced vertical grain patterns. I'm not sure what the correct term is for that, but it seemed like there were fairly regular pronounced lines that also ran from top to bottom which intersected the horizontal flame pattern. This wouldn't be the same irregular patterns that you'd see in a rift sawn top. I think this has been referred to as BBQ. Anyhow, for my tastes, none that I'd seen "did it" for me. I think we saw an exceptional year in the 2007's as far as wood goes.
