Re: ** 33 **
Just one question. Why'd you name this thread **33**?

Re: ** 33 **
He should call the thread something like, "Warning: Do not open thread if you have bad G.A.S"
I know. Stupid idea. J-Man123

Re: ** 33 **
Yeah the Burst Borthers picked 33 R9 tops that were as close as they could get to 33 original '59 Bursts.
There's 33 of them. I put a warning at the header of the thread! You chose to scoll down!

Re: ** 33 **
I really thought this thread was going to, somehow, be about Rolling Rock. I realize it wouldn't be on topic, but that's what I first thought of when I saw the title.
Gorgeous guitars, either way. Now I want a Rolling Rock.

Re: ** 33 **
Man, how I sometimes wish I would live in the U.S. ......
I bet you wouldn´t get as many good looking guitars in one place if you would combine the whole Customshop stock off ALL dealers in Germany. And better prices to boot. |

Re: ** 33 **
As of last Saturday (3 days ago), at least one was available. I checked one out at the local GC. They have a pretty good vintage collection and the local guy, Randy Melser, had one of them there in the room.
I think that this one was #7, I can't remember for sure. The serial number was B9 007 if I recall. It was very nice, the neck was fantastic - just slightly narrower than the majority of R9s (they had 6 or 7) that were there. The noteable difference though was the pickups were not the standard Gibson Burstbuckers. They had a brushed nickel finish - very different looking than the VOS finished BBs. I asked what they were and Randy said that they were special pickups that had been produced for these 33 guitars but couldn't tell me any more than that. Kind of strange, I thought. They were definitely different though. The sound was great although it was tough to tell the difference between this one and the others - through a JCM800 Marshall they all sounded like heaven. It was available for the same price as the other R9s - I could have taken it with me if not for the minor detail of paying for it... |
