Re: ** 33 **

On looking at the pics above, I think that it was the 7th one down in the first post. I remember the slight mineral streaking (dark vertical marks) on the left side.

Re: ** 33 **

here is mine...number 28. not great pics, but you get the idea.

Also, most have said here "THE TOPS DO NOTHING FOR ME." Well, the real beauty of these guitars is in the tone. By far and away, one of the best sounding Pauls I've ever played.

Re: ** 33 **

This is mine - #23. There are more than 33 of them; the number I heard was 40. As of last weekend, #34 was still unsold.

I played four of them (1, 23, 34 and another one that I can't recall) and liked this one the best. They all resonate acoustically really well - as well as the best historics I've played and on par with the old wood LPs I've played also. Plugged in, it has a lot of mids and great natural sustain. I'm still getting used to it so it's hard to elaborate more than that.

The main differences are the finish, wood and neck.

The finish is listed by Gibson as a 'teaburst' but it's more orange-colored than other teabusts. The back is a rich dark red that's different than anything I've seen on another historic.

The wood, as everyone can see, is gorgeous on all of them. The BBs that I saw were all really flecky and had lots of mineral streaks. All of the tops seem to vary a lot from one another but still have a lot of character.

The neck seems thinner than a regular 59 neck but with a little more shoulder - kind of like a thick 60. All the necks seemed to pretty much have the same shape. The binding also has a smooth roll off so there's not that flat 'binding wall' that other historics have.

New plastic and PUs on the way....
