Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
Wow--old news--but as I've pointed out all over the internet--both Gibson & Fender have copied each other before--and they will both do it again.

Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
Crap, Jimi would even say 'What the **** is that, I want my strat!'. I dont see why the family could have done a project with each company (they would make more money), do a strat with fender, and replicate one of jimis Gibsons. They didnt have to make these, they look terrible.

Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
Gibson made a much better than average Strat, years back. I played a few, and there really wasn't a lot wrong with them.
![]() It was called the U2, and was really not popular for some reason. Liam |

Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
Yes, I know... Looserface300 was thoughtful enough to clarify for me...
![]() Yeah, up until last year I'd been strictly a Fender guy so my knowledge on Gibson guitars is still pretty limited. Kind of why I joined this forum... ![]() Can I change my suggestion to reissueing the Hendrix V? |

Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
When I read that it was the "Jimi style bodyshape" I laughed so hard that I fell over. I just thought that was hilarious. On a side note though, did anybody know that Hendrix actually prefered Gibson guitar's sound but it was just too heavy and hard for him to use and they didnt have trems. Thats why he primarily used Fenders. I read this somewhere but I am not sure where or if its 100% true, but if it is then I think thats pretty cool.

Re: A Gibson Strat? It's True (Sorta...)
this is definitely one of the weirdest, stupidest and most ironic business decisions I have ever seen in history of any company.
I cant even think of anything I can compare this too regarding consumer products |
