You might find someone willing to trade an R8 for those two...

IDK if you are wasting your time or not. I say you should try it though. You may just find the right person.

Re: is it stupid to try to trade?

Why don't you try selling those two guitars and then buying an R8 with the cash? That's probably your best bet. Reason I say that is because if you do find a possible trade, you're sort of limited to that one particular R8. Historics are incredible guitars but not all of them are incredible, if you know what I mean?

Personally...and don't take this the wrong way, coming from a guy who owns a LP Custom and owned an '06 Standard, I wouldn't even consider that trade.

LP Custom - say $1,700, 'cause of the mojo.
LP Standard - say $1,200, worst case scenario.
Total - $2,900. More than enough to buy you a used R8 and just on the low side of the R9 range.
Could buy yourself a used R8 with a small tube amp for that much. Like a Blackheart Little Giant.

Shit, why are you buying a Traditional? Save your money and put it towards a historic.
You already have a Traditional, it's called your '03 Standard...AND you've already upgraded the pickups.
