Well today I got through my 09 Les Paul '59 reissue finished in VOS Iced Tea. It has a really nice top, not world class, but nice, and better than my last one. It came with all the bits and pieces, in fact I could have had the shipping box if I had wanted it!

I only have my iPhone camera to hand so only taken one pic right now. I will follow it up with some better shots later if anyone wants to see.

I see it came in the black case , i noted that a few guys on here were saying they were getting the black case instead of the lifton as Gibson werent supplying them now , did you get a choice ? im asking out of curiosity as my guitar arrived damaged at the heel strap stud !

Nope no choice, when I ordered it had not even been built as they were concentrating on the 50th guitars and the limited colours.

Did you get to return yours?

Thanks! It is awesome. I was worried ordering it blind so to speak but I am very happy with it. Sadly in the UK there is not a massive amount of dealers who will hold any amounts of historic stock. Most will have maybe 1 or 2, sometimes 1 of each colour but that is it.

In fact I had a friend looking for an 09 R9 and they emailed all the high end dealers who advertise and none had stock and only one was willing to try and get a delivery time from Gibson - they are still waiting...........

It makes buying one in the UK difficult because if you want say a washed cherry you have to ring around all the dealers and see what they have and then drive or fly to visit them. You would not be able to visit one dealer and play 2 or 3 different ones. Worse still, dealers here seem to be indifferent towards you. Unless you go in waving the notes in front of their face you will get no service. I would not dream of asking a dealer who is not near me to email pictures of tops to me. They would laugh (seriously)

The shop were really good to deal with , they offered to order another but a couple of strap locks covered the damage to the paint which was a little damaged around the stud , so no major drama they sent some goodies , strap locks , box of strings as an apology , although they would have done anything within reason to sort the situation out ! The guitar was just too good to risk another blind order i felt , although they were only too happy to send loads of photos of the two guitars i was considering by the way !
