Re: Serial number help

In the Historic series, the first number designates which year is being replicated. 9 means '59, 8 means '58, 0 means '60, etc. The second number denotes the year in which the guitar was actually manufactured. So 7 means 2007, 8 means 2008, 9 means 2009, etc. The remaining numbers tell you which number in the production series that year your particular guitar was.

Re: Serial number help

I think they will, the past couple of years they have been hitting the 2000 mark... and they seem to be pumping them out very fast so far this year.

Re: Serial number help

While we are on serial numbers. Does anybodys historic lack the space between the first and second number? I'm looking at an R6 without the space.

Re: Serial number help

Does your R6 have four digits in the numbers IDing what no. guitar of that year's run it was? I think some of them don't have that space because of the extra digit. I'm probably wrong.

You right, if you have a guitar that is inbetween 1 - 999 it will have the 5 digit serial number with a space, once you hit 1000 they have a 6 digit serial number without the space.

for example:

9 9001, 9 9002, 9 9003........................9 9997, 9 9998, 9 9999, 991000, 991001, 991002 etc.....

.....also i think there was actually a few original '60 bursts that had 6 digit serial number without the space.

Re: Serial number help

A few 59s too. weren't there 1600-1700 original '59s (about 2/3rds of which are unaccounted for).

Re: Serial number help

I think there was only about 1600 -1700 bursts in total, 1958 - 1960. Also the serial numbers on the original bursts don't read the same as the reissues....

i'm sure someone who know's exactly how the vintage burst serial numbers read can chime in, i'm not 100% and don't want to start any mis-information.
