84 59 Prereissue Major Flame 4 0025
I was coming home from work the other night and my neighbor tells me hey I have a friend that's selling a Gibson Les Paul do you want to check it out. My neighbor has watched me come home from practice and prolly noticed the cases. So I tell him what the hell. So I go over to the guys house and he opens the case, and I go dayum look at that top. So I turn it over and notice it's an 84 Prereissue with the 4 0025 serial which I assume is the 25th made of that run. The guitar has a little work to be done, but the Shaw Pickups really sound great. The top is just stunning.

Did I leave that detail out
yes I did. That case houses a 69 Goldie the original Lifton looking case came with the guitar.

that's the real good one.I have only seen a few like that.I have a case from that era, only has the single neck support. But, it fits my Special better than the current brown reissue cases.

Re: 84 59 Prereissue Major Flame 4 0025
Here the TPK B3 has push-in busings that fit the holes made for screw in bushing. TonePros-Kluson
Also I believe Grover still makes a "Chicago" (read Kluson) style tuner with screw in bushings. Grover Deluxe Keystones at Stewart-MacDonald This is a great find, I think you may have 300K pots in there. If it were mine, I would rewire it completely, keep the volume pots, replace the tone pots with 500K CTS audio taper, and get Luxe Bees in there! You will need long post pots (even if you take the plate out) OR get the Fake 58 kit ;-) they have a long post version! Note: I would not automatically upgrade the electronics, without full evaluation. Sometimes this stock setup is well suited to the Shaw pups! |

Sorry I was a little slow to see that. It was great that some of the guys went to bat for me on the LPF. I will never forget that, when they are in need.

Re: 84 59 Prereissue Major Flame 4 0025
I was thinking TW quite honestly. Sense of humor aside, his posts sometimes come off as being very arrogant. I asked a question once about a Gibson RD and he made fun of it, like the guitar was a piece of shit, and when someone starts a thread about Jimmy Page or his guitars, he'll chime in with a sarcastic comment putting down the subject. If you have nothing nice to say... well, you know the rest. Just because the guy owns a number of vintage LPs and knows a lot of info on them dosen't give him the right to determine what's "good" or "bad". The whole thing with chiming in on Maple Flame's thread, which was supposed to be in celebration of his new find, with the "mis-representation" of the term burst, I mean, come on! How about a little prasie for the guy's new axe as well? Oh yeah, that's right, it's not the "real thing". And it's the same people that come to his defense as well, his fellow Vintage collecting buddies, bandmates, ect.,... Anyway... Rant off!

Re: 84 59 Prereissue Major Flame 4 0025
TW can be arrogant and sometimes a prick, I just ignore him, because he is not the end all be all. I am not either. But on another hand he has some great guitars, pics, experiences and stories in which he is nice to share. He also has some good knoledge. We all have a vast amout of info to help each other with, it's up to us to use it or not. I was trying to be funny and excited when I posted that word Burst on the LPF. I do appreciate the backing and the wonderful kind remarks. We should applaud the great finds that the forum bro get. Each guitar in it's own world has a piece of history even if it's not a 50's LP.

Well at least Cherrick is not coy! He pulls no punches and does not let the "hiearchy" bully him into submission! He treats everyone the same. Step on his blue suede shoes, and he will let you have it, no matter WHO you are!

He sure does. I am that way in person, but I fail to see why it's worth it when there is a computer in front of me. They don't usually give me that much trouble. I have been known to knock a few screens out in my day.
