Pageburst?

hey guys, i know some of you have had the pleasure of playing a Jimmy Page custom authentic. could anyone tell me what the pageburst is? some pics i have seen make it out to be an iced tea then some show it to be faded cherry sunburst. i dont know if its due to the red hue that sneeks its way into photos or what. thanks alot guys! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Colin.

Re: Pageburst?

It looks like the same color as the '99's and early '00's. Kind of a rusty tea burst, still has noticable red in the color. Some of the amber coat has an orange cast to it. Some of them come out kinda orangey looking and some are more yellow.

Re: Pageburst?

This is a poor, indoor cell phone pic of my Page, but i think it shows the colour quite well.

Mine is the murphy aged version, but the pageburst is the same.

Re: Pageburst?

I played one, and to be honest was not like WOW I need to have this. If anything I did not like the neck on the guitar. I think you can get a better deal if you just bought a '59 reissue and purchased after market push pull pots, and pups.

The guitar is cool for what it is, and if you are fan of Jimmy page no doubt a must own, like I am with Joe Perry, but as a player I am not a fan of the shaved down neck profile.

Ya either love the neck or hate it. I love mine, but for me its not that big a deal, Ive never really had a neck preference.

Re: Pageburst?

Here is JPP245 CA. I love the neck on this...I also have 4 R9s with huge necks....love the necks on those too.....this is my Christmas Present that keeps on giving..the PageBurst I believe is faded Iced Tea with some red in the upper horn and near the P/U switch area....

Jimmy Page CA #245

JW,

Definitely a fine guitar, and heck it worked for Mr. Page right? When I first started playing I was more of a 60's neck kinda guy to get the progressions down etc. I thing bought a '58 and have preferred bigger necks ever since. It allows me to play longer and fight hand fatigue.

Killer stuff though modeled after the guitar god of guitar gods....

Yeah it deffinatley worked for Jimmy, The reason I bought mine is I was in the store one day and tested it, played it for over a hour with no cramping it helped my arthritis it seemed, but hell I love all les pauls 58-59-60 but since I tore my left thumb off in 82 (LOL it is back on and yes I can use it) the 58s give me a gripping problem at times for some reason fender necks are the worst on me. But really in all my days of playing as far as feel goes I've never preffered one over the other. I mean hell my SG has one of the biggest necks I've ever felt.

Re: Pageburst?

Mark's Guitar Loft has #JPP242 for sale for under 5000.00. It has a real nice top - with more fading that I have seen on most Pageys.....although it has had a refret with jumbo frets - that might be a good thing. Good luck on your search.

Have you played a Pagey yet?.....If you are really interested in purchasing one, you really need to play one before you jump into one. The neck seems to be the deal killer on these......too thin is what most say, and I have to agree on the fact that the neck is thin, but I like it for that reason!!!......

Not a great picture, but here is a pic with a 1996 60's Classic (which I thought that neck was too thin), JPP245, and a Murphy R9....you can see the difference...

While the 59 is alot thicker your photo shows more back angle on the 59.
Also I dunno about deal killer because everyone that was made of the last runs has sold. Im not positive but I think the last ser #s was in the 850s or 870s. But still I dont understand the thin neck problem, all of the so called Wizard necks alot of shredders use are very thin but wide. I had an Ibanez 770 in the 90s that was super thin, very fast (but it was an Ibeenhad) I just couldnt get any tone. My opinion on this is one has to adapt to a neck no matter what guitar, hell my 60RI has a bigger neck than the 59RI I had a while back. And my SG is more 58 size but I still love em all. Still though there all cool guitars.

I have attempted to sell my JPP245 numerous times - not because I did not like the guitar, but it was one of my bigger $$$$ valued guitar and was in the need of some cash. I had a near sell, I practically drove to the buyers driveway. He had cash in hand. He loved the guitar until he played it.....that thin neck..........no sale.........but I was happy just the same...I have decided the Page#245 will stay in my arsenal no matter what

I believe the number of JPP CA's went to 870.

I dont understand the thin neck syndrome at all. I have a '59 Jr and the neck on that monster is huge.....(the sound out of 1 P90 and vintage Mahogany is amazing) then I will pick up the JPP#245 and I have no issue going from a very thick neck to just the opposite, in a thin neck...no discomfort, I just adapt to a different playing style.

True on the back angle on the Murphy R9, not intended, I was trying to balance the 3 guitars for the best possible picture comparison. I have since purchased a digital caliper and measured both the JPP245 & another R9 of mine.

Now THAT definitely is the JP preferred neck profile!! Didn't even know they'd become a production item that faithfully, but looks a whole lot like the profile they made to copy "#1" back in the days of the first JP Les Paul. (Seem to remember they gave him a "Classic" profile initially, and it was returned quite ungraciously, he was not impressed!)

Thouht it was some sort of mistake when it first turned up, as it is really not my sort of thing, but if you need a signature edition signed off, that is the profile that Mr. Page prefers. And yes, he has definitely made it work for him.

Nice photo, shows the differences in neck profile beautifully.
