MOJO R8 (OK, I'm just bragging)

As promised, a proper introduction of my '98 R8 honeyburst, all cleaned and polished. ..
I'll let the pics do the talking.

The pickguard doesn't fit!!!??? so I scanned the '53 GT guard into my 3d software and modified it for the R8, then I used our 3d printer for this cutting template.

The large holes are for screwing the template to a table so it wont move when I use my router. I made it just for fun, I don't know if it will work.

Re: MOJO R8 (OK, I'm just bragging)

I would leave the pickguard alone. All the 98's have that gap....that is a good way to tell it is a 98

I left my alone and think of it as a shrunken pick guard.

This is a real, sincere comment - not intended to just be a feel good stroke.

I really like your guitar. The top is magnificent. Hope it sounds half as good as it looks, because if it does, you have a player as well as a centerfold.

Cheers!

I think I'll call her HoneyBunny from now on

I been complaining about the pots and caps on my '04 R9 but with the R8 everything works flawless, she feels and sounds like a vintage guitar. It's pure rock 'n' roll heaven.

I've noticed some divergence from the 50's spec compared with the R9 but I couldn't care less. She's beautiful, but this is a player, not a poser.

About the pickguard. I'm just interested to see if I can route with the 3d printed template. I'm not even sure that I'll use it.

Re: MOJO R8 (OK, I'm just bragging)

Beautiful guitar! One day I'll land me one of those '98s.....

I like the idea of starting your ownership with the guitar cleaned and polished, and then it will age naturally and gracefully as you play it over the coming years.....

yeah, I have this idea that i want my new guitars clean and polished, I find it disgusting with another mans grease. It'll fade and get dull were it's supposed when I've used it for a while.

You bet I'm going to post some sunlight pics, but that have to wait until next spring.

That's just how I feel about mine.
There's just something about it.

Throught the years Gibson has made these more histirically correct but when the guitar comes together with a special personality that's all that matters.

I don't know what Gibson did but a lot of '98 R8 owner's feel this way about their's.
