need info on my '59 reissue
First post.
I own a Gibson Les Paul '59 RI from the year 2000 and am considering selling it. I know it's a very desirable guitar but I'm not sure of the specifics as to where it really ranks among R9s. I've read that there were fewer made in 2000, so they are rarer. But I don't know if that is really true or how much that would affect the value. I've read that the ones made with Brazilian rosewood are a little more desirable to some, but I know my guitar is not made with that. I've seen them on eBay for 7-8K, but 3-5K sounds more realistic from what I've seen. Questions: are the 2000 models any more desirable? What prices are reasonable? Any other specific info would be greatly appreciated. The guitar is in good condition. I will post pics shortly. |

They made nearly 2000 R9s in 2000, not rare. 1999 was the year Gibson really ramped up production of R9s, but, 1999 and 2000 were the years for the plaintop R9s as there were no R8s made in those years (other than a few rare special orders)
2001 and 2002 saw a LOT of R8s being made, and the R9 production decreased in these two years, especially 2002. Value really depends on condition (condition is king) the color and the top figure. |

This is the same model and finish I have. Mine is very good condition, not unplayed like this one, but the same guitar and case.

I just noticed the pictures turned out incredibly blurry. Tough to really see the condition on the guitar at all. It's very good, maybe 2 or 3 very minor blemishes.
